VALLEJO WEEKLY

ANDREW'S ANNOUNCEMENTS

A MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER Hello Vallejo,

As October draws to a close, we welcome the cooler weather and the possibility of some damp days ahead. While showers are in the forecast this weekend, we remain hopeful that any rainfall will be limited to the overnight hours, allowing our community to fully enjoy the many Halloween festivities planned throughout the city.

This weekend, Vallejo offers a wide variety of familyfriendly events for residents of all ages:

• Friday, October 24: Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) will host its annual Floating Pumpkin Patch.

• Saturday, October 25: Vallejo Main Street presents its popular Costume Stroll in the afternoon, followed by Mare Island’s Halloween Bash beginning at 4:00 PM.

• Sunday, October 26: Both St. Patrick–St. Vincent High School and the Moose Lodge will host Trunk or Treat events.

• All Weekend: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom continues its renowned Halloween Fright Fest.

Details for these and other community events can be found throughout the pages of the Vallejo Weekly. We encourage everyone to participate, show their Halloween spirit, and enjoy all that Vallejo has to offer.

In addition to seasonal celebrations, our city continues to make significant progress on several infrastructure projects. Vallejo Public Works, in coordination with Caltrans, is actively investing millions of dollars into street and infrastructure improvements that will benefit our community for years to come. Several projects are currently underway, with more scheduled to begin in the first and second quarters of 2026.

One such project is the removal of Dock A at the Vallejo Marina. Unused since 2007, the dock had reached the end of its useful life several years ago and is now being carefully dismantled. Its removal will not only improve the visual and operational aspects of the marina but also support our longterm maintenance and revitalization vision for the waterfront.

We appreciate your patience and support as we continue to enhance the quality of life in Vallejo. I, like many of you, look forward to the completion of these projects and the positive impact they will have on our community.

With appreciation, Andrew

Late Night Basketball Reflects on 2025, Eyes 2026

The Late Night Basketball team wrapped up a successful 2025 with a celebratory lunch on Monday, October 20th. The gathering was a chance to reflect on the year’s accomplishments, recognize the impact, and discuss ways to grow and improve in the year ahead.

This year, the program made a meaningful difference in the lives of nearly 200 young people by offering a safe, welcoming space to play basketball, connect with friends, and stay off the streets. The team’s commitment to community and youth development continues to be a driving force behind its success.

Looking ahead to 2026, the team is energized and ready to expand its reach, aiming to engage even more youth and deepen its positive impact across the community.

Mare Island Bridge Upgrade Project – Traffic Update

The Mare Island bridge will undergo a temporary full closure for two days as part of this upgrade project. THESE ARE NEW DATES DUE TO THE RECENT RAIN

Wednesday, Nov 5th, and Thursday, Nov 6th, from 6 am to 5 pm. Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be allowed onto the bridge during this closure. Following the daytime closures, the bridge will resume one-way traffic Westbound. This closure is necessary to facilitate essential work in the water as part of the bridge’s long-term upgrade project.

Public Works staff will be actively monitoring traffic and making adjustments as needed to minimize disruptions.

The City of Vallejo appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this period of construction. While the short-term inconvenience may pose challenges, the long-term benefits will significantly improve transportation and safety for residents, workers, and visitors.

Night Lane Closure, One-Way Traffic Control for Eastbound State Route 37 (SR-37) Paving Project in Sonoma County

Work scheduled to start Monday, Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

Caltrans has scheduled paving work that will require a lane reduction and one-way traffic control on Eastbound State Route 37 (SR-37) just west of the Sonoma Creek Bridge.

One-way traffic control, with a pilot vehicle, will be using the eastbound lane of travel to lead traffic. Work is scheduled to begin the night of Monday, Oct. 27. Working hours are between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next mornings.

There is tentative work scheduled the week of Monday, Nov. 3 during the same hours.

Work is expected to last about five days. All construction is limited to overnight hours in the area.

Construction includes grinding and paving the existing area near between Nobel Road and Skaggs Island Road. No on- or off-ramps on SR-37 are expected to be closed during construction.

A separate paving project on Westbound SR-37 began on Wednesday, Oct. 15 and will continue into the week of Monday, Oct. 20. Hours also are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next mornings for that work.

Please drive with caution. Slow for the Cone Zone and Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans thanks motorists for their patience while we work to maintain our state›s highways, bridges, and tunnels.

Caltrans has started construction on the Rehabilitation and Complete Street Project on State Route 29 (Sonoma Boulevard).

This work began on Thursday, Oct 16, from the Napa/ Solano County line at Mini Drive and span the 6 miles to Cal Poly Maritime Academy. From Oct. 13 to Nov. 21, work is scheduled from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night. During this time initial work will begin between Napa/ Solano County line at Mini Drive to Missouri Street.

All work depends on the weather. The project is estimated to be completed in the Fall of 2026. This project will consist of the deconstruction of the current medians and curbs. The construction activities may be noisy and create dust at times, as work will be done by jackhammering and other construction equipment.

This project will require a lane closure with one lane open for motorists and traffic control in place. Daytime access is expected to be available for motorists. While construction is occurring, there will be a CHP presence in place. More updates will be provided and the project continues. You can follow the project here: https://dot. ca.gov/caltrans-near-me/district-4/d4-projects/d4-sr29vallejo
