Fright Night

Date: October 23 Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Ages: All Cost: Free Location: East Suffolk Recreation Center, Whaleyville Recreation Center & Creekside Recreation Bring your family and friends to take part in this fun filled event. Costumes are encouraged (no Halloween masks). Come out and enjoy free candy, bounce houses, haunted house, arts & crafts, and more.

Kid Zone Play Day

Date: November 2, 2021 Time: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Ages: PreK-4-5th Grade Cost: $20 one time registration fee Location: Creekside Recreation Center & Booker T. Washington Recreation Center Looking for something to keep the kids entertained while school is out? Well, look no further than Parks & Recreation’s Kid Zone Play Day. Cookies with Santa

Date: December 4 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Ages: 2-10 Cost: Free (pre-registration required and will start on Monday, November 22) Location: East Suffolk Recreation Center Join us at the East Suffolk Recreation Center for a morning of fun-filled cookie decorations, holiday crafts, and making cookies with Santa! This event is also free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required.

Home Away From Home (Homeschool)

Dates: September 28 - October 21, 2021 Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays Time: 3:00 - 4:30 PM Ages: 6 - 17 Cost: $10 per child with current annual membership Location: Whaleyville Recreation Center Come out to Whaleyville Recreation Center to take a load off from schoolwork and join us for an hour and a half of activities that include arts and crafts, snacks, and more! This program is designed with homeschoolers in mind, as we want to encourage movement, thinking, and new friendships. Pre-registration is required. Holiday Jingle Mingle

Date: December 14 Time: 5:30 - 7:30 PM Cost: Children can participate in the event with a donation of one new, unwrapped toy per child; parents/guardians pay $6 for dinner Location: Whaleyville Recreation Center There will be something for the entire family. Come hang out with us, enjoy some hot cocoa or coffee, fun games and crafts as we await the arrival of Saint Nick! Moth Night with the Butterfly Society

Date: September 10 Time: 8:00 – 11:00 PM Ages: All (children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: Free Location: Sleepy Hole Park Join Suffolk Parks & Recreation and the Butterfly Society for this exclusive nighttime program where we will use special techniques and lighting to attract, observe, and learn about moths found in our area.

Wild Mushroom Exploration

Date: October 16 Time: 9:00 – 11:00 AM Ages: All (children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: $5 per class Location: Sleepy Hole Park The program will cover mushrooms common to Hampton Roads, the rewards, perils, and pitfalls of mushroom hunting. Afterwards, attendees will hit the trails of Sleepy Hole Park in search of what fantastical fungi can be found hidden amongst the forest floor.

Glow and Flow Yoga at Bennett’s Creek Park

Date: September 18 Time: 7:30 – 8:30 PM Ages: 8+ (children welcome with accompanying adult) Cost: $15 (children 12 and under free with paying adult) Location: Bennett’s Creek Park Join us and Nuleeu Fitness for Glow and Flow, a creative all levels hatha yoga class, beneath the night sky at Bennett’s Creek Park. We will flow to the beat of music. Glow sticks and glow jewelry will be provided. Feel Free to dress in your White/Neon Gear!
