City staff and Council make hundreds of decisions every day. While many are simple day-to-day operating decisions, others are more complex. The City uses public engagement tools to get feedback from stakeholders when decisions might impact them. That’s why the City implemented an engagement policy in 2014 to guide public engagement work and then launched EngageStJohns.ca in 2015 to make providing feedback as easy as possible.

There are currently 3,868 active members on EngageStJohns.ca, 169 of whom are 18 to 30-year-olds on our youth panel. Since EngageStJohns.ca was launched eight years ago, more than 3,400 pieces of feedback have been received on 120 projects including: the Downtown Pedestrian Mall, H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, Traffic Calming Policy, the City’s Cycling Plan, and Planning applications, to name a few.
