8 Great Ways to Enjoy Your Neighbourhood Parks

Did you know, the City has over 140 municipal, community and neighbourhood parks? Our parks have playgrounds, splash pads, basketball courts, tennis courts, skate parks and so much more.

Green spaces in our neighbourhoods give us places to explore, gather, spend time with friends and be physically active. Looking for activities to do this summer? Here’s eight great ideas to get you started.

1. Pack a Picnic: Pack a lunch and have a picnic in Bannerman Park. With a playground, splash pad and pool on site, there’s fun for the whole family.

2. Hoop it Up: Have a game of 21, Horse, Bump or 3 on 3 in Century Park, located in the centre of the City.

3. Host Your Own Olympics: Chafes Lane Park is a great place to try tennis, softball, basketball or even grounders. See if you can play one fun game in each area!

4. Grind it Out: Grab your skateboards or scooters and enjoy one of the biggest skate parks in the city - Kenmount Terrace Kids can cool off in the splash pad afterwards or enjoy the playground.

5. Connect with Nature: Take a mindful nature walk through the surrounding trails at Denis Lawlor Park. Take time to unwind, disconnect and unplug for your health.

6. Take a Power Position: Grab some friends, a frisbee, line markers and pylons or a rope and head to Larch Park, which has lots of open space making it the “ultimate” frisbee location.

7. Walk and Play: Take a walk around Mundy Pond and stop to enjoy the inclusive Jumpstart Playground with over 1,025 square metres of play space for children of all ages and abilities.

8. Plan the Perfect Day of Adventure: In Bowring Park the options are endless! Plan a day of adventure and enjoy the numerous nature trails, try out the skate park, have a game of tennis, play at the playground and splash pad and go for a swim.
