Thank You! On March 29, 2023, the City of South El Monte Senior Services Division recognized former South El Monte Mayor/ Councilmember John D. Gonzales for his 20+ years of volunteer service at the South El Monte Senior Center. During his years of volunteerism, Mr. Gonzales founded and served on the board of the Club Latino de Sur El Monte; was the president for the Seniors Services Advisory; was recognized as Older American of the Year in 2000; created the South El Monte Senior Legends Softball Team; and oversaw the Super Bingo Club, which donated to City programs including Baile Folklorico de Sur El Monte, Senior Legends Team, and provided door prizes for the Senior Center’s luncheons.

The Club also donated to Dean L. Shively Band and South El Monte High School Future Business Leaders of America Club. On behalf of the Senior Services Division, we thank you John Gonzales for your time and commitment to the South El Monte community.
