LEADERSHIP & FIRST AID TRAINING National Lifeguard Recertification For those whose lifeguard ticket is expiring soon or has already expired, take this Pool Option recertification. Practice and update session in the morning, recert in the afternoon. It is highly recommended that participants hold a current Standard First Aid with CPR-C. Other recommendations included reviewing first aid knowledge, and practicing NL physical standards such as egg beater, head up swims and carries/removals for unresponsive victims. Standard First Aid Ages: 15 and up

National Lifeguard

Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR-C) skills for those seeking a more in-depth understanding of first aid emergencies. This is a required course for National Lifeguard training. Certification valid for 3 years. 100% attendance required. Tue/Wed Aug 27 & 28 12:30am - 8:30pm $160

Prerequisites: Standard First Aid, Bronze Cross, and min. age 16 yrs This award builds on the skills, knowledge and values that the Lifesaving Society teaches in its Bronze Medal awards to develop the practical skills and knowledge required by lifeguards. Recognized as the standard measure of lifeguard performance in Canada, NL education is designed to develop a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard. Must have a current SFA with CPR-C from approved provider and Bronze Cross by first day of NL course. 100% attendance required for Certification. Parent attendance required at the beginning of the first day for a brief meeting. Sat/Sun Oct 26/27, Nov 2/3 & Nov 9/10 9:00am - 5:00pm $365

Bronze Star

Ages: 10 and up This optional program helps prepare 10-12 year old skilled swimmers for success in Bronze Medallion. Candidates are taught about how to make WaterSmart choices and learn basic lifesaving and resuscitation skills needed to be their own personal lifeguard. This program is 10 hours consisting of both dry and wet sessions and includes a 400-metre timed swim completed in 12 minutes or better. Bronze Medallion Ages: 13 and up

Watch for this course in our Spring brochure, planned for Wednesdays, 4 - 6:15pm between Apr– May 2020.
