What’s next?

The City follows a multi-step process to develop the Financial and Corporate Business Plan. It combines community feedback with Council priorities and department needs to prepare the next 5-year Financial and Corporate Business Plan. The graph to the right shows some of the key steps and dates in this year's budget cycle.

Share Your Feedback

One of the most effective ways to have your voice heard in the budget process is to complete a feedback form. Your feedback will be analyzed along with that of fellow residents and businesses and shared with Council and the public.

How do I participate?

• Read the introductory presentation to Council from their meeting on Oct. 21

• Read the full draft 2026-2030 Financial and Corporate Business Plan and proposed 2026 Budget

• Watch a video presentation

• Ask your questions in the Q&A and they will be answered by a member of the Finance team.

• Drop by the Council Open House on Oct. 29 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to meet with Council and share your thoughts with staff.

• Once you have reviewed the materials and asked your questions, visit shapeyourcitypenticton.ca to complete a feedback form about the budget between Oct. 21 – Nov. 5.

• Hear a report on the budget feedback and watch Council Budget Deliberations between Nov. 18-19.

Information for residents and businesses

Council is getting ready to review the proposed 2026-2030 Financial and Corporate Business Plan and budget for the upcoming year. They will consider a number of factors in their decisions and would like to hear the views of the community. This handout includes the key information from the proposed budget to assist you with sharing your feedback. You can review the complete plan at www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca

In This Proposed Budget

This Financial and Corporate Business Plan shows that Penticton continues to be an adaptable and resilient community while advancing Council’s priorities of Safe & Resilient and Livable & Accessible. A rigorous process was undertaken to deliver the most fiscally responsible draft budget as possible.

The Path to 2026

Key impacts for 2026 include investing in Community Safety Resources, investing in Vibrancy and Culture of the Community and Inflationary Costs. Also, previously approved Council investments incorporated into this draft budget include supporting the Vees transition to a WHL team, the addition of a firefighter per year for 4 years, and additional RCMP members.

The proposed 2026-2030 Financial and Corporate Business Plan includes a proposed tax rate increase of 6.26%. The following chart shows the Estimated Monthly Increase for property taxes based on the average residential or commercial property.
