SILLY OBSTACLE COURSE

DATE: Thursday, 10/21 TIME: 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm AGES: 12 – 15 Unleash your inner ninja!!! Create and run your own personal obstacle course! We will provide all supplies.

THANKSGIVING CENTERPIECE

DATE: Wednesday, 11/3 TIME: 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 Learn how to create simple and inexpensive Thanksgiving Day centerpieces for your family using twine, coffee filters and ribbon.

TEEN CHEFS

DATE: Wednesday, 11/17 TIME: 4:00 - 5:00 pm AGES: 12 - 16 Impress your family and friends with some spooky and creative Halloween desserts.

2022 VISION BOARDS

DATE: Thursday, 12/16 TIME: 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to set some goals. Put these goals on paper to help you stay the course! Be creative and make your dreams come true!

POSITIVITY PENNANTS

DATE: Tuesday, 1/11 TIME: 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 15 Create visually stunning pennants with quotes that inspire you. Remind yourself of your potential!!

SHOW ME THE MONEY

DATE: Thursday, 1/13 TIME: 5:30 - 6:30 pm AGES: 12 - 16 Learn valuable skills on how to manage money at a young age. This program will provide you with basic info that you will be able to use to set financial goals.

AFTERNOON BANDSTAND

DATE: Thursday, 2/24 TIME: 5:30 - 6:30pm AGES: 12 - 15 So, you think you can dance? Bring your dance moves to Old Armory Community Center and show them off or make up your own dance moves to your favorite songs. We will have light refreshments available, as well. You’ll have a blast at this dance party.

CAREER VS. JOB

AGES: 12 - 18 DATES: Thursdays in September TIME: 4:15pm - 5:15pm Find your passion, not a paycheck. Teens will learn tips on how to focus on what makes them happy and turn that into a rewarding career.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR

DATES: Thursdays in October TIME: 4:15pm - 5:15pm AGES: 12 - 18 Teens will learn about the process of creating their own business. Topics will include the creative process in promoting business ideas, marketing your business, projecting the type of finances needed to run your business and more.

SUTTON’S CHEFS

DATES: Thursdays in November TIME: 4:30pm - 5:30pm AGES: 12 - 18 years old Kids will be responsible for putting together a menu and preparing a meal of their choice for their peers. This program will teach kid’s ways to budget their money, as well as, how to cook a healthy meal.

DISCOVER YOUR ART

DATES: Thursdays in December TIME: 4:15pm - 5:15pm AGES: 12 - 18 Let your imagination run wild. Our staff will provide opportunities for kids to tap into their creativity through art and self expression.

GIRL’S NIGHT OUT

DATE: Friday, 12/3 TIME: 6:00 – 8:00 pm AGES: Girls only – 12 – 18 year olds Sutton Park Community Center has a perfect night planned for the ladies! Games, activities, and food create the perfect opportunity to spend girl time with your friends and family.

BOY’S NIGHT OUT

DATE: Friday, 1/7 TIME: 6:00 – 8:00 pm AGES: Boys only – 12 – 18 year olds Sutton Park has the perfect boy’s night out planned for you! Grab your buddies and head over to Sutton Park Community Center for video games, activities, basketball and more!

DREAM CHASERS

DATES: Thursdays in December TIME: 4:30pm - 5:30pm AGES: 12 - 18 Teens will learn the path to resolving conflict and will be given the tools to help with the problem solving process. Participants will be exposed to several fun problems and will work together to find a solution to these obstacles as a group. This program is designed to teach teens how to work as a team and how to find creative ways to solve problems.

COLLEGE COLOR DAYS

DATE: Wednesdays in September TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 Each week in September, staff will assist you with the college application process. Learn how to write college applications, college essays and how to research colleges and scholarships. Wear your favorite college team apparel!

HANGOUT AND HARVEST

DATE: Wednesdays in October TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 October is harvesting season and is the perfect time to learn tasty and easy recipes for the upcoming Holiday season. We will visit the community teaching garden and use home grown vegetables to make several delicious meals.

GAMES GALORE!

DATES: Wednesdays in November TIME: 4:00 - 5:00pm AGES: 12 - 18 There is nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. Winchester Center will provide a friendly atmosphere to compete in every game you could think of, whether it be a board game or a more active game. Have you created a cool game? If so, bring the idea to us and we will help you bring it to life!

CAREER PATHS

DATE: Wednesdays in November TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 If you’re unsure as to what type of career you’d be interested in, let us help you out! We will focus on several different occupations throughout the month of November. See if any fit your interests and you can make your hobby your career!

ACTS OF GIVING

DATE: Wednesdays in December TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 Join us in the month of December as we help you give back to the community. Participants will be able to assist with and participate in the creation of projects that will make a positive impact on the community.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

DATE: Wednesdays in January TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 18 Creating goals for the year is an important step in living your best life. Let us give you the tools to promote a positive attitude and help you reach all of your goals for 2022.

CREATE TEENS

DATE: Wednesdays in February TIME: 4:00 - 5:00pm AGES: 12 - 18 Express your creativity through art projects using canvas, clay and paint. Participants will be inspired by classical and contemporary music to help get the creative juices flowing.

DELTA SIGMA’S GEMS

DATES: 3rd Saturday; September – March TIME: 10:00am – 12:30 pm Monroe Parks and Recreation has partnered with the Delta Sigma Theta Alumnus Sorority to provide opportunities for participants to plan for their future in a fun and exciting environment. Instructors will mentor participants in study skills, life skills and how to successfully create goals and visions for themselves.

DATE: Wednesdays in September TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 15 Make your own pieces of unique art. The world is your canvas, including your t-shirts. Join J. Ray Shute as we use everyday items to create beautiful pieces of art.

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

DATE: Wednesdays in November TIME: 5:00 p m – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 - 15 During the month of November, participants will dive into the beauty of Native American culture. Each week, participants will engage in hands on and fun activities focused on the lives and culture of the Native Americans.

BRIDGE BUILDERS – S.T.E.M. PROGRAM SERIES

DATE: Wednesdays in January TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 15 Participants will dive into the world of engineering as they participate in S.T.E.M. based programming including bridge building, robotics, and more!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

DATE: Wednesdays in February TIME: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm AGES: 12 – 15 Learn about leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in America and the path that these incredibly and courageous individuals created. Taste foods that originated in Africa and learn about the African culture while enjoying games, music and more!
