Library Membership
As a member of the Marion Library Service you are a member of the One Card network and can borrow and return items to any public library in South Australia.
The One Card network gives you access to more than 3 million items from over 130 public libraries across the state.
Your membership also includes access to computer services* including Wi-Fi and online resources such as eBooks, movie streaming, online storytelling, tutorials, reader’s advisory and much more.
*If you are under 18 years of age you will need a guardian’s permission to access the computer services.

How to join the library?
Anyone who resides in South Australia is welcome to join the library.
Becoming a member is easy and it is FREE . To join the library you need to:
> Show personal identification with your photo, current address, name and signature.
> Bring in a parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
> Agree to comply with library policies.
Just visiting?
If you are visiting South Australia and would like to use the library on your travels, bring in some photo identification and we can provide you with a temporary membership.
Collections & Borrowing
Your One Card allows you to borrow up to 100 items from any of the public libraries across South Australia.
This includes books for all ages, audiobooks, magazines, eBooks and eAudiobooks, DVDs, CDs, Blu-rays, graphic novels and community language items. Toys may also be borrowed for a small annual fee – see page 10 for details.

Returns
Items may be returned to any public library in South Australia regardless of where they were borrowed* Marion Libraries have 24-hour returns chutes located outside all three branches for your convenience.
* Toys must be returned during library opening hours to the branch from which they were borrowed.
Renewals
Renewals or loan extensions may occur, if the item is not requested by another borrower, for two additional loan periods.

Holds
Holds may be requested by phone or in person at any Marion Library branch, or by accessing the online catalogue at marion.sa.gov.au/online-catalogue
You may place a maximum of 30 holds on your card at one time. When holds are available for collection the library will notify you by email**, SMS or letter.
** Email is the fastest way for us to let you know your holds have arrived. Talk to our staff about signing up for email notifications.
If items borrowed by you are lost or damaged then the replacement cost will be charged. Payments on lost items are non-refundable.
Special Collections
We offer a variety of special collections from loanable tech and audio players to seeds packets for your garden.
Book Club in a Bag
Book Club in a Bag offers members exclusive access to hundreds of book club sets that can be picked up from any of our library branches and borrowed for up to six weeks.

Content Creator Kits
Content Creator Kits are loanable technology, located at each Marion Library branch. The kits consist of Go Pros, digital cameras, creative drawing tablets, podcast kits and more, and are all free to borrow for up to four weeks.

Trending Titles gives you access to the most popular books in Australia NOW. With no waits and no holds, you can find popular titles available to borrow on your next visit.

Seed Library
The Seed Library is located at Cove Civic Centre and visitors are welcome to take two packets of seeds per month free of charge. Customers are encouraged to donate seeds from unused packets or by harvesting seeds from their own garden. Donations can be made at any of our three library branches.

Yoto Mini Players
Yoto Mini is the ultimate portable audio player for kids ages 3 to 12+ in a compact, travel-friendly design. Just pop in a Yoto story card and take the magic anywhere!
Yoto Mini players are available for free at all Marion Library branches and can be borrowed for up to two weeks. Each Yoto Mini comes with a variety of story cards for hours of enjoyment.

Languages & Literacy
Our libraries house a number of collections assisting borrowers who are learning English or other languages. This material is free and accessible with your library card.
Adult literacy
This collection consists of items that assist in initial English language learning as well as strengthening and refining existing reading and listening skills. The collection includes:
> IELTS (International English Language Testing System) practise materials and support, including our online database.
> Adult readers that are short, easy-to-read stories designed for ESL students and adult literacy learners.
Dyslexic books
Dyslexic format books are available at all of our branches and are designed to assist readers with dyslexia. Look for this logo on book spines:
Storytime Pods
Storytime PODs are a wonderful interactive tool for children to engage with over 200 picture books read aloud in the following languages: English, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Turkish.
Available at Cultural Centre Library and Park Holme Library branches.
Community languages
Material, including books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks, are available in:

The collection is monitored and adjusted regularly so if there is a demand for other languages we will consider new additions. We also have access to material in over 40 more languages, via our One Card system, which can be requested and delivered to our libraries.
Bilingual picture books
These books can assist either children or adults in mastering the task of learning English or another language.
Chinese picture books
Our Chinese picture book collection at Park Holme offers a selection of beautifully illustrated stories for children and families. Covering a broad range of subjects, these books are perfect for young readers, language learners, and anyone wishing to explore the world of Chinese picture books together.
Toy Libraries
Learn, explore, create and imagine through play with the help of the Toy Library Service.
Fantastic for kids, perfect for parents
The Marion Library Service has toy libraries located at two of its branches; Cove Civic Centre and Park Holme Library. An annual membership fee applies. The Toy Libraries provide a great range of toys, puzzles, games, sporting equipment and other resources.
Primarily the toys are suitable for children up to 6 years of age.
Membership fees and borrowing
All toys can be borrowed for a 2 week period. Toy loans can be extended up to 2 times.

Pension card, family/health care card or veteran affairs card must be presented at the time of payment for concession membership.
To join the Toy Library you need to:
> Show personal identification with your current address.
> Bring in a parent or guardian if you are under 18 years of age.
> Agree to comply with policies and regulations.
Toy Library borrowers are encouraged to:
> Count and check toys when borrowing to make sure all pieces match the description on the tag – please report any discrepancies to staff immediately.
> Return toys in good, clean order, complete and in the correct packaging.
> Report any damage to the toy library equipment to staff in order to maintain the best possible safety standards of the items.
> Not attempt any repairs on toy library items.
> Accompany their children at all times whilst in the toy library.
Toys must be returned during library opening hours to the branch from which they were borrowed.
Online Catalogue
Our online catalogue allows you to access items from all over South Australia from the comfort of your own home.

Searching the catalogue
> The search bar is automatically set up to prioritise items from Marion Libraries.
> Enter your search term(s) and click ‘Search’.
> Clicking the ‘All Libraries’ tab will broaden your search to include all South Australian libraries.
Logging in
> To log in to your account you will need your library card number and PIN. Your default PIN will be your date of birth (DDMMYYYY format) unless you choose to change it.
Place a hold
> Once you have found an item in the catalogue that you wish to place a hold on click the ‘Place Hold’ button.
> If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN.
> Choose a pickup location and click ‘Place Hold’.
> To check your holds click on the ‘Holds’ tab in your account. You can remove a hold by checking the box next to the title and selecting ‘Delete’.
eBooks & eAudiobooks
As a library member you have free access to a huge collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks.
Our collection includes classics, new releases, nonfiction and best-sellers for all ages that you can download wirelessly to your compatible device. You can borrow anytime, there are automatic returns and no late fees. Simply browse, check out, download and enjoy!

City of Marion Libraries provide free internet and computer services at all three of our branches.
Public computers
PCs are available for use at all of our branches. These provide free access to the internet and Windows applications including MS Word, Excel and Publisher.

Hublets
Hublets are Android tablets that can be borrowed and used anywhere in the library. Hublets are perfect for accessing our online resources such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, online movies, magazines and newspapers. You can also surf the net, stream videos, connect on social media and play online games.
Hublets are available for adults, teens or kids at all Marion Libraries branches.
Printing and copying
Printing and copying services are available at each of our branches. The following rates apply.

Web printing
Print wirelessly from your home PC, laptop or mobile device at Marion Libraries via web print. Send or upload the file you would like to print and come in and collect it from any of our branches. Access the web print site and log in using your library card number at marion.sa.gov.au/web-print
Scanning
Scanning is available for free via the in-built scanner in our photocopiers. You can scan to your email or save to your USB storage device.

Marion Heritage Research Centre
The Marion Heritage Research Centre is an exciting focal point for history and cultural heritage in Marion.
Located in the old ‘Red House’ on Sturt Road, the Marion Heritage Research Centre is a place where documents, artifacts and photographs relating to Marion’s history can be preserved, researched and shared with the community.

Ancestry online
Ancestry is free for the public to access on the Heritage Centre’s computers. Please call us on 7420 6455 to book a session and ask about our training sessions for Ancestry and Trove.

Reference books
Our Australian, local and family history reference book collection contains many new publications as well as older and rare books, useful for historical research and practice.
Cultural heritage online
Our online catalogue houses thousands of images and documents for you to browse and explore. We have also provided some handy links to help you with your research. To access the online collection visit marion.sa.gov.au/online-catalogue and click on the Local History tab.

The City of Marion have a fantastic range of low-cost venue hire options available including Cove Civic Centre and Park Holme Library.
Using our new booking system, it’s now easier than ever to find the perfect venue to meet your needs. Discounts are available for City of Marion residents, businesses and community groups.

Justice of the Peace
JPs are available at Park Holme Library, Cove Civic Centre and the City of Marion Administration Building.
A Justice of the Peace (JP) in South Australia is typically someone of good stature in the community who, providing they are satisfied with the capability of the signatory, is authorised to witness and sign:
> Statutory declarations
> Affidavits
> Waiver rights
> Search warrants
> Divorce documents
A JP can also certify copies of original documents as well as witness the signing of advanced care directive documents.

No appointments necessary but we encourage calling ahead on 8375 6755 to confirm availability at library locations.
Photocopies
Photocopying facilities are available at your own cost at each of our library branches.
Limit on the quantity of documents
No more than 20 certified copies can be signed per person.

I will advise the library if my card is stolen, lost or destroyed and note that a fee may be charged for replacement of cards.
I am responsible for all items borrowed on my card.
I acknowledge that replacement costs and processing charges may apply for items that are lost or damaged in my care.
I will ensure that my use of the internet and other electronic resources is appropriate and does not breach the Conditions of Use of Electronic Services.
I will not use library materials to infringe copyright.
I take responsibility for meeting these conditions for any child/children under the age of 18 whom I have authorised for library membership.
I understand that my personal details may be provided to a third party for the sole purpose of receiving communication regarding my library usage.
