If you currently use the City’s Recreation Facilities, and want to register for classes online, grab your scan card and let’s get started.

Go to www.lakelandathletics.net and select the tab for the type of programming you would like to register for. (Classes are organized by start date.)

Select the name of the class to get more detailed information.

Once you have chosen the class you are interested in, select “Register” at the far right of the row.

If you have not used the online registration before, a user name and a password must be set up. Once that is done you can log in. On the next screen check the box to agree to the terms including the 2.8% fee.

Continue to the next screen. If you have a scan card for the participant enrolling in the class/program enter the number on the back.

(Note: You must use the scan card for the person participating in the class. Each individual has their own scan card; therefore, a parent cannot use their scan card to register their child for a class.)

If you don’t have a scan card, you can enter your information into the yellow fields for the participant.

Now, you can either proceed to checkout or add additional registrations. Feel free to call 863.834.3284 if you have questions or problems with online regsitration.

it’s not the Established in 1983, Kelly Recreation Complex has been providing recreation opportunities to the community of Lakeland for over 25 years. This facility houses an expansive cardio theatre, multilevel fitness area, several classrooms, as well as a 12,000 square foot gymnasium. For those seeking outdoor recreation, eight lighted tennis courts are also available. This spacious facility provides the residents of Lakeland access to a diverse selection of recreation activities.

Registration at the Kelly Recreation Complex is required for all activities and classes. Due to limited enrollment, pre-registration and pre-payment is recommended and sometimes required for classes.

All fees must be paid by cash or check only. **Online registration is available for most classes check page 4-5 for details**

Guests: Out-of-City $4 • Out-of-State $5 All guests must check in upon entering the Kelly Recreation Complex and sign a waiver of liability to participate.

Weekend Pass (5pm Fri - 5pm Sun) $20 per 16-Visit Gym & Fitness Room Pass User Check-in: All users must check in before being permitted to use the fitness areas and gymnasium. New users will be required to register in the participant program and will be issued an identification tag. Lost ID tags are subject to a $1 replacement fee.

Ab/Body Sculpting

Boxing for Life

A non-cardio training, toning & strengthening workout for you early risers that want to get a jump-start on the busy day ahead without the intimidating setting of a weight room. This class utilizes hand weights, body resistance and high repetitions. Ab/Sculpting is termed multi leveled because you choose the weight of dumbbells used.

A high-impact cardio-fight fitness program.

Participants can burn between 600 and 800 calories per class. It incorporates fight routines, free weights, resistance training, and cardio into a high-energy motivational hour!

Participants only need to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes, boxing gloves and hand weights are provided. Everyone is welcome and this is perfect for all; young, old, experienced, and beginners!

Using the body's own resistance, a series of movements and performed that is designed to improve circulation, breathing, posture and body awareness.

Muscle Confusion

Muscle confusion training can kick your fitness out of the doldrums. Bring your own workout mat If you like. We have everything you need.

The minimum age requirement is 15 years old. Participants 12-14 years of age may work out if accompanied by a parent or guardian, 18 years old and up. Anyone under the age of 12 cannot use the fitness rooms due to insurance requirements. All participants are encouraged to consult a physician before beginning any exercise program.

Co-Ed Cardio Room: Work out in our cardio room featuring Cardio Theatre and Precor & Track Master machines such as cross trainers, upright & recumbent bikes, steppers, treadmills, rowers and more!

The theatre consists of 8 flat screen televisions on different stations for your entertainment. Standard 3.5 mm headphones are required for the audio. Participants may bring their own headphones or purchase a pair for $8 at the front desk.

Co-Ed Weight Room: Top quality Magnum weight machines, including leg extension, leg sled, cablecross over, biceps, chest press, free-weight stations, and more.

Senior Shape Up Low impact exercise especially designed for adults/seniors. Emphasis on several areas: stability and developing core strength; create upper body strength and coordination while improving your cardiovascular strength; improve your balance and strength skills with balance-challenging exercises and moves.

Improves energy circulation, mental clarity, focus, fertility, emotional balance and healing. Great for Athletes, healthcare practitioners, those battling cancer, chronic pain or other illnesses. It circulates as much blood flow as if you went jogging.

Zumba/Zumba Toning Ditch the Workout and Join The Party!

Distress after a long day—This is so much fun you will not even know that you are working out. You do not have to know how to dance to join into the magic rhythms of the Zumba music, the beat of the African drums, the Latin sounds of Samba, Salsa, Merengue, Cha Cha and more. The Zumba music and choreography incorporates all genres including belly dance, latin and now your favorite top '40s. This class gives you a lot of benefits. With continued participation, many lost their excess weight while building a toned and lean dancer's body. This season, we will take on Zumba's new ABS and GLUTES program as well as TONING. Come have fun and party while getting into shape.

— Pickleball A fun game that’s played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34” at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fastpaced, competitive game for experienced players. New players are always welcome.

Loumba/Cardio Dance You will be amazed how much fun it is to accomplish all sorts of fun dance moves… and dance to your favorite oldies as well as some of the HOTTEST NEW MUSIC including Latin and pop! Lou Gardner has designed all dances to accommodate anyone who wishes to avoid “impact” movements – You may choose to “stay grounded” or feel free to add as much intensity as you like. The first 15 minutes of each class is instruction and/or review and drill of steps and combinations… Soooo… you can start anytime! You will not be disappointed! — Strength Express Strength Express is based on slow-method, high-intensity strength training principles. Movements are performed slowly to obviate any momentum or acceleration, thereby ensuring maximum safety, efficiency and effectiveness of each and every exercise.

SAFETY is a top priority! Your muscles do all the work while at the same time your joints and connective tissues are protected from injury. In every exercise you will adhere to the rule: Lift the weight in accordance with joint and muscle function within the constraints of safety. The class also includes two short intervals of high-intensity cardio as the final component before cooling down and stretching.

Crystal has partnered with the Coleman-Bush Building in addition to her current class offerings at the Simpson Park Community Center. Crystal’s World of Dance was founded in 2003 and now offers classes throughout the county in various community centers. Crystal’s mission is to bring positive enlightenment to diverse audiences through offering a variety of dance classes and community performances, to strive for excellence in dance education, and to teach students a unique style and approach to dance.

ColemanBush Building History Coleman-Bush Building was designed to be a multipurpose physical facility for the social, economic, health, cultural, recreational, and educational needs of the growing community.

Construction began on the thennamed “Northwest Community Center “in 1974.

In October of 1980, it officially became the Coleman-Bush Building. It was named after two gentlemen who were prominent members of the community. Charles A. Coleman was a Lakeland Commissioner from 1974 until 1978. He also served as mayor pro term in 1976 and mayor in 1977. Gow M. Bush was a well known physician.

They were both active and involved in the local civic affairs.

This building has proven to be an important asset to the community and has continued to fulfill the objective set up all those years ago. It has provided office space for lease by non-profit organizations and meeting space for civic groups. Social events enhance the quality of the community life, so it is only fitting that the Coleman-Bush Building, a community cornerstone, hosts these events, as well. It also provides leisure time programming for the city’s residents. City of Lakeland Neighborhood Services & Housing Division replaced the rental suites, NAACP remains in the building.

This gorgeous recreation facility features two multipurpose rooms, game room, kitchen, separate men’s and women’s weight rooms, study hall facility, computer center and a spacious gymnasium which houses two full-size basketball courts. It is equipped with great outdoor facilities as well, such as one tennis court, two basketball courts, playground and a newly renovated softball field. This indoor/outdoor facility allows the Parks and Recreation Department the opportunity to provide comprehensive recreation programming to suit the varied needs and interests of the North Lakeland Community. Instructional classes, sports leagues, recreational play, fitness and special event programming ensure constant activities.

police athletic league The National Police Athletic League began back in 1910 when Captain John Sweeney of the New York Police Department had the insight to offer inner-city youth some positive experiences, which involved interaction with law enforcement officers. He began knowing that the program would influence the youth of his community. Law enforcement involvement and supervision at recreation sites such as ball fields, classrooms, and playgrounds helped to position these officers as friends.

Today, PAL serves more than 1.5 million youth nationwide between the ages of 4 and 18. The organization has over 300 law enforcement agencies serving over 700 cities and 1,700 facilities throughout the United States, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

After School Program

This program is geared for youth in 1st through 8th grades. The program offers pick up from Lincoln Academy, Rochelle School of the Arts, Lawton Chiles Middle, Sleepy Hill Elementary & Middle, North Lakeland, Griffin Elementary, Greater Faith Temple, McKeel Elementary & Winston Elementary. We offer tutorial assistance, daily snacks, one on one tutoring, and computer lab and health & fitness activities.

Lakeland Community Theatre, with its home in the 370 seat Lake Mirror Center Theatre, has provided the Lakeland community with Theater productions for more than 25 years.
