We would like to congratulate Officer Carlos Soto on his recent graduation from the Santa Rosa Junior College Training Center Police Academy.
He was sworn in by Chief Jenkins following his graduation ceremony and is now serving as a Healdsburg Police Officer where he will continue his field training!
Officer Soto previously worked for the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office as a Correctional Deputy.
if you see him around the City, be sure to say hello!
The Community Services Department recently completed deferred maintenance projects, which are funded through a Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget allocation. Deferred maintenance is preventative maintenance that is required to keep a facility in an acceptable and operable condition, and that is intended to maintain or extend its useful life.
The March 22, 2024 Friday Update previously featured updates on painting projects and an improvement project at the Snack Shack in Recreation Park. This month, work continued at Giorgi Park, where a local contractor completed a tennis court resurfacing project that will extend the lifespan of the courts until they can be fully reconstructed in the future. The resurfacing project introduced new court colors and refreshed lines for tennis and pickleball At Recreation Park, the existing football goal posts were completely removed to prepare for the installation of new goal posts this August. The football goal post project is a partnership between the City of Healdsburg, the Healdsburg Unified School District and the Prune Packers. Repairs to the parking lot lighting at the Villa Chanticleer are in progress with assistance from the City’s Electric Department.
As we close out the month of May, we want to recognize the month of May as Affordable Housing Month! Here are some noteworthy accomplishments the City has made to enhance accessibility and affordability in housing for all residents:
Healdsburg received the Prohousing Designation, as bestowed by the State in recognition of its commitment to affordable housing.
Secured $9 7 million for the Dry Creek Commons Affordable Housing Project via the Joe Serna Jr. Farmworker Housing Program.
Spearheaded the development of the L&M Village, in partnership with Burbank Housing Development Corp., and Reach for Home. The L&M Village is the first interim housing project in Northern Sonoma County
Completed the renovation and rehabilitation of the Healdsburg Scattered Sites Project, rejuvenating 90 existing units and ensuring safe and habitable living conditions for residents
In celebrating Affordable Housing Month, we affirm our dedication to fostering an equitable, safe, and stable community for all. We look forward to working with all members of our community in finding creative solutions to developing and sustaining affordable housing for all residents of Healdsburg.

Please join us on the front steps of City Hall (401 Grove Street) for a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony prior to the evening’s City Council Meeting.
Last fall, we collected over 100 ideas for sidewalk improvements, higher visibility crosswalks, and new bicycle paths.
The City wants to make walking, bicycling, and travel by mobility device safer and more appealing for both everyday transportation and recreation We want active modes of travel to be options for people of all ages and abilities and we want your input!
The City and Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA) have partnered on this effort and we would like your feedback on some of the project ideas.
Join us June 5th at the Healdsburg Community Center 1557 Healdsburg Avenue between 5:30 – 7:30pm to hear about the progress on the developing Healdsburg Active Transportation Plan! You will have the opportunity to review the draft projects, programs, and policies collected from the first round of outreach. Attendees will also have the opportunity to suggest additional ideas that are not currently represented in the draft Snacks and refreshments will be provided Drop-in for any amount of time
If you are a residential customer, you may notice a change in the sewer usage on this month’s utility bill. Every May the City calculates the seasonal sewer average (SSA) which determines your sewer usage in effect for the entire year.
The SSA is based on your average winter usage from January to April. If you have questions about your SSA or would like more information, please call Utility Billing at 707-431-3307 or email utilitybilling@healdsburg.gov
