In late 2020, representatives of CoorsTek contacted the City of Golden and indicated that the company planned to move operations off-site and came to the City to discuss ideas for future plans for the 12-acre site near downtown Golden. After a few years of discussions, CoorsTek’s rezoning proposal went before the City’s Planning Commission. Throughout March 2022, CoorsTek has been conducting additional community meetings at the request of residents who wanted more time to understand the rezoning request and to dialogue with the applicant and staff about specific topic areas. The Planning Commission is expected to hear more about the project at its April 6 meeting. Lubahn Trail Maintenance Through June In January 2022, the Parks and Recreation Department received $87,500 from the Jefferson County Open Space Trails Partnership Program to restore and reroute the Lubahn Trail. This exciting trail maintenance project got started in midMarch and is expected to last through June 2022. Neighbors and visitors can expect to see new fencing and signage onsite. The trail will close during workdays only. Contractors expect to keep the trail open when they are not working on it. Jefferson County’s Olivine Trail, located one block away, will serve as an alternate route for trail users who want to access South Table Mountain. The Coors Brewery Tour is Back The very popular tour of the historic Coors Brewery right here in Golden is back! The tour was suspended back in 2020 to best protect health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Coors Brewery is happy to announce that they are once again inviting visitors back to experience the behind-the-scenes brewing operations. Tours are now by reservation only to limit capacity, and COVID precautions, including proof of vaccination, are being required at this time. During the closure, Coors took the opportunity to make enhancements to the facility to enrich the tour experience. Visitors who are 21 years of age and older, with a valid ID, will receive three samples in branded, recyclable souvenir aluminum cups. Non-alcoholic beverages are also available. The tour still ends in the Coors & Co. gift shop where you can purchase unique branded and Coloradothemed merchandise.
