Check if You’re Ready for June 5

Sacramento County is one of five counties in California to implement the Voter’s Choice Act (VCA), expanding voting opportunities for all residents. Ensure you’re ready for Election Day with the following checklist provided by the Sacramento County Department of Voter Registration and Elections: Are you registered to vote? If you need to register or if you’ve changed your name, address, or political party, you’ll need to update your registration by visiting www.elections.saccounty.net. You can also check your registration status! Watch for your ballot. Beginning the week of May 7, all registered voters in Sacramento County will be mailed a ballot. Keep an eye out for your pink envelope! Choose how you want to vote. • By Mail: Place the voted ballot inside the envelope provided, sign the envelope, and return. Note: ballots returned by mail must be POSTMARKED on or before Election Day, June 5.

Summer Road Closures— Plan Alternate Routes Closure at the Intersection of Bradshaw Road and Sheldon Road

• Vote Center: With the passage of the California Voter’s Choice Act, traditional polling places will be replaced with Vote Centers that are open for up to 11 days, including Election Day. This means voters can choose when, where, and how you want to vote.

The intersection of Bradshaw Road and Sheldon Road will be closed while construction crews replace the existing bridge and four-way stop with a new bridge and multi-lane roundabout. This work will improve traffic flow and reduce flooding risks at the intersection. The closure is planned for the end of May through the first week in August, when construction is anticipated to be completed.

• Drop Box: Place your voted ballot in any of the 53 secure Drop Box locations throughout Sacramento County. A complete list of locations will be listed in your Sacramento County Voter Information Guide that will be mailed out prior to the election.

For construction updates, visit www.elkgrovecity.org.

Planning a Block Party this Summer? Don’t Forget Your Permit

If you’re throwing a block party—whether you’re closing a public street or just limiting access—a Street Use Permit is required. Permit applications are available online and require a $50 processing fee. But plan ahead—application review and processing can take up to 30 calendar days. Gather your neighbors and start planning your barbeques, pot lucks, and fireworks shows! For more information, visit www.elkgrovecity.org or call (916) 478-2256.

Closure of Waterman Road Between Bond Road and Sheldon Road

Once the Bradshaw and Sheldon intersection re-opens, Waterman Road between Bond Road and Sheldon Road will be closed for 30 days during the months of August and September to allow for the reconstruction of pavement in that area. Construction crews will widen the road and shoulders, correct drainage deficiencies, and add bike lanes. These improvements will be consistent with the City’s Rural Roads Policy.

Code Enforcement: Maintaining Safety and Quality of Life for Our Community

Code Enforcement Officers work in close association with the Elk Grove Police; Planning, Building, and Public Works Departments; and other local agencies to maintain high community standards and address violations of the Elk Grove Municipal Code.
