Selling, Transporting, or Using Illegal Fireworks is a Crime
Elk Grove’s new Fireworks Task Force is patrolling neighborhoods to enforce zero tolerance against illegal fireworks. Comprised of the Elk Grove Police Department, Elk Grove Code Enforcement, and Cosumnes Fire Department, the team is working to help keep our community safe from injury and help prevent wildfires sparked by illegal fireworks. Fireworks that DO NOT carry the State Fire Marshal’s “Safe and Sane” seal are illegal in the State of California. Illegal fireworks include sky rockets, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial shells, firecrackers, and other types that explode, go into the air, or move on the ground in an uncontrollable manner. If caught with illegal fireworks, violators will be cited and fined up to $50,000. To report illegal fireworks activity, call 916-714-5115.
