Free Used Oil Recycling Kit and Filter Exchange Event
If you change your vehicle oil at home, mark your calendar to stop by Diamond Bar Autozone on Saturday, August 26.
Starting at 9 a.m. and until 2 p.m. or while supplies last, the City will be giving away free used oil recycling kits (funnel, shop towel and a reusable oil drain and storage container). Individuals who bring a used oil filter will receive a new one up to $15 plus tax.

Filters are considered hazardous waste and therefore cannot be thrown out in the regular trash, but they can be recycled. According to CalRecycle, each filter has about a pound of re-usable steel and they each hold an average of 10 fluid ounces of used motor oil, even after they have been drained.

Autozone is located at 303 S. Diamond Bar Boulevard. For more information about this event, contact the Environmental Services Division at greendb@diamondbarca.gov or (909) 839-7015.
Summer Paper Shredding Events
Diamond Bar residents that need to safely and securely dispose of confidential documents such as tax returns, bank statements or medical records are encouraged to take advantage of one of three paper shredding events the City is hosting this summer.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Confidential Or Sensitive Documents
American Red Cross is calling on all eligible Diamond Bar residents to roll up their sleeves and help replenish local blood supplies by participating in a blood drive being held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Heritage Park.

The events will take place in the South Coast Air Quality Management District parking lot, 21865 Copley Drive, on Saturdays, August 12 and 26, and September 23 starting at 9 a.m. and until 1 p.m. (or earlier if shredding trucks fill up to capacity before then).
These are drive-through events, which means participants remain in their vehicle while event staff unload the documents and shred them on the spot. Also, the events are only for Diamond Bar residents – proof of city residency will be required.
Documents for shredding must not be three-ring binders, notebooks, or vinyl folders, but envelopes, staples, paper clips do not need to be removed. There is a limit of two banker-size boxes or two 13-gallon trash bag per household.
According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood which means blood supplies must constantly be replenished. Blood donations are used for accident victims, as well as for individuals receiving cancer or chronic illness treatment, or undergoing an organ transplant or other surgical procedure.
To be eligible to donate blood, individuals must be at least 18 years old (16- and 17-year-olds must have written parental consent), weigh at least 110 lbs. and be in good health. Blood donations can be made as often as every 56 days, up to six times a year.
Heritage Park is located at 2900 S. Brea Canyon Road. For more information, contact the City’s Parks and Recreation Department at (909) 839-7070.
