Parent/Child Water Introduction

Introduce your child to the water through songs, games, and group activities. Discover basic skills such as water entry and exits, floats, glides, arm and leg movements, and water safety. This class is one-parent to one-child ratio and parent must accompany child in the water at all times.

Private Swim Lessons 3-17Y

Your child can learn to swim with confidence and develop an enjoyment of the water. This one-on-one instruction is appropriate for any skill level and will help your child to build comfort in the water and work on swimming skills and water safety. No class 7/4.

A great way to introduce your youngsters to the world of sports, teamwork, and athletics! This camp by the National Academy of Athletics will help to build your child's motor control, hand-eye coordination, agility, and many other sports related skills. Your child will have a blast playing games with the other children that may include: whiffle ball, basketball, soccer, flag football, capture the flag, relay obstacle races, and a whole lot more. Ready to play some flag football? Whether your child is a beginner or advanced player, the drills taught by National Academy of Athletics at this camp will help you improve your game. Campers are grouped by age and ability to learn appropriate drills, skills, and techniques.

This camp is designed to develop players of ages 10 to 13. Most campers at our Development Academy have been playing soccer for 2-3 years or more. The camp format dedicates the morning session to technique training and developing skills that will help players perform at the next level. We emphasize games, strategies, and tactical understanding of match situations in the afternoon. Our coaches are well trained and will provide a camp that is fun and challenging at every level of play. Coaches will monitor progress and provide all players an evaluation report at the end of camp. Using all their senses they will explore the Preserve to learn secrets about the animals, plants, insects, and trees that live there. They will also enjoy nature crafts, stories, and games. Robotics using cubes and LEGO® WeDo programming, young kids will explore the basic components of robotics by playing with modular cubes known as Cubelets® ! Each way your student snaps the cubes together will create a unique robot, but what matters most is when your student figures out the perfect robot recipe to solve a challenge. They will work in small teams to figure out how to create lighthouses, vehicles, astrobots, animals, and so much more. Blacksmithing Nature Activities

Basic Blacksmithing for Beginners 18Y+

This beginning class assumes no previous knowledge of metalworking but any shop experience will be helpful. Class starts with basic safety, fire management, and hammering technique. Next, you will learn tapering, bending, and shaping while also being introduced to more advanced methods. Finally, you will use these techniques to make your own item, such as a hook or keychain. This class provides a brief but tantalizing introduction to the blacksmithing world and prepares you for the next level, Intermediate Blacksmithing with Focus on Projects. Information regarding appropriate clothing and protective equipment detailed in online description under Notes.

Family-Friendly Introduction to Nature 6Y+

Learn to identify some of the beautiful wildflowers that grow in the area, as well as how to identify and avoid plants such as Poison Oak and Poison Hemlock. We will also discuss how to safely interact with and avoid potentially dangerous animals like Black Widows and how to distinguish a harmless Gopher snake from the venomous Western Rattlesnake. Class will begin in the EEC with a slideshow highlighting some of the Bay Area’s outstanding plants and animals, as well as interacting with some of the animal ambassadors in the nature center. Following this, we will venture out for a nature hike around the Preserve to see what we can find! Participants should plan to bring a full water bottle, and wear close-toed shoes, and clothing appropriate for being outside for up to an hour. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian also registered for the class.

Activity Withdrawals

Withdraws must be requested in writing or in-person at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the activity for a full refund.

1-day Classes/Events

Refunds must be requested in writing at least eight calendar days prior to the start of the 1-day class/event.

Activity Cancellations

Activity not reaching required minimum enrollment may be canceled. Participants are notified by phone and given option to transfer to another activity or get a full refund.

50+ Travel

Individual cancellations must be filled from the waitlist before a refund can be issued. For individual cancellations, an administration fee of $10 will be assessed, and the remaining balance will be refunded. A full refund will be issued if a trip is canceled by the Senior Center.

50+ Luncheons

Individual cancellations must be filled from the waitlist before a refund can be issued. A full refund will be issued if a luncheon is canceled by the Senior Center.

Separate Policies

There are no refunds for Drop-In or Day Passes. Separate policies apply to Preschool and Sports Center Memberships. Please inquire before registering.

Refund Request

Requests must be submitted in writing and must include participant’s name, address, phone number, name and activity number of the class, and reason for withdrawal.

Original payments made by credit card are refunded to the credit card and may take up to two weeks to process. Payments made by check or cash are refunded by check and may take up to six weeks to process.

Resident Fee

Activity participants living in Cupertino zip code 95014 are eligible for a resident discount rate. Proof of residency may be requested.

Waitlists

If the class you requested is filled, you may be placed on a waitlist, free of charge. If the class becomes available, we will call you. Payment is due within 24 hours.

Age Requirement

Where an age is indicated, the participant must be that age by the first day of class. Proof of age may be required.

Class Attendance

Class attendance is limited to the registered participants only. Sorry, no children in adult classes and no adults in children's classes.

Make-up Classes

There are no make-ups for classes you don’t attend. On occasion, a class/activity will be canceled due to weather, instructor availability, or unforeseen emergencies.

If Cupertino Parks and Recreation cancels a class meeting, a refund will be issued, or a make-up class will be offered if the schedule permits.

Class Check-in/Check-out

All children 0-14 years of age must be checked in and out of classes and activities by a parent or guardian. Please come into the classroom and see the instructor to check your child in and out.

Declined Credit Card

If your credit card is declined, Cupertino Parks and Recreation staff will contact you to request payment. If your payment is not received within 24 hours, your registration will be canceled.

Returned Check

There will be a service fee for each returned check.

Scholarships

Limited scholarship grants are available for youth recreation programs and classes. Our scholarships program is administered by the West Valley Community Services. To apply, contact WVCS or call (408) 255-8033 for more information.

Must be a Cupertino resident or attending a school within the CUSD.
