HECTOR HENRY GREENWAY | RIVERWALK/WEDDINGTON PHASE Includes a 2.75 mile connection from the Embassy Suites located on John Q. Hammonds Drive to Clover Road in the Riverwalk neighborhood. It includes connectivity along Gateway Lanes, and a crossing to the Hampton Inn & Suites.

Trail head parking can be found at the Weddington Road Bark Park, and Embassy Suites. This greenway features over 3/4's of a mile of boardwalk, a public shelter, outdoor classroom, and an observation deck to the Rocky River. Visitors will be welcomed by natural habitat and featured public art at turns along Gateway Lane and Weddington Road.

GEORGE LILES PARKWAY TRAIL Includes a 1.3 mile asphalt path connection from Weddington Rd. to Highway 29 at Christy’s Nursery. Parking currently available at Publix on Weddington Rd.

HECTOR HENRY GREENWAY | THE MILLS AT ROCKY RIVER 2.62 miles of natural surface trail along the Rocky River adjacent to the Mills at Rocky River neighborhood.

Includes a 0.5 mile greenway within Dorton Park along Afton Branch connecting the park to the West Cabarrus YMCA at Dumbarton Street and Langford Avenue. Parking will be available at Dorton Park, along Burck Drive (on-street parking), and at the YMCA lower lot.

Tai Chi is a gentle practice that applies principles of balance to transform oneself. In this class you’ll learn our Tai Chi form which is a short slow moving set of relaxing postures that improve your balance, calm your mind, and physically realign your body. Daily practice of Tai Chi improves your coordination, deters injury and slows down joint degeneration. In each class we dive into the underlying philosophy and science behind each movement while keeping the material fresh and relaxing. Come practice with us, see you soon.

These workshops are for children (see special note concerning children) and adults of any skill level looking to explore ceramics in a social and creative environment. Materials Included: All materials are included with the class; including glazing and additional firings that are handled by the studio.

Please allow approximately 2-4 weeks for your work to be fully completed before arranging for pick up.

CYC Recruitment

Concord Youth Council is a service-oriented organization that is comprised of students attending a public, private, or home school within Cabarrus County. Each member gains leadership skills and responsibilities in the form of programs and community service projects.

Applications for new members are due April 25th, 2025. Membership is free, and very competitive. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Students entering grades 9 through 11 for the 2025 – 2026 school year may apply.

DESTINATION RECREATION

Destination Recreation is Concord’s summer program here to provide children with a fun-filled summer! Each week has a different theme designed to keep everyone engaged. Weekly themes include activities, games, outside time, environmental education, creative play, swimming and field trips. Free lunch is served daily.

WEEK 1 6/9-6/13 FIND YOUR FIT! Our first week we will learn about fitness, food and fuel. Everything from physical exercise to good food and treat days. So put down the video game and let’s get moving!

WEEK 2 6/16-6/20 LET’S GET CREATIVE! This week will focus on all the arts! Visual art, theater, music and more will come together to create a showcase every child will be proud of!

COST: $75 Per week (Resident) $90 per week (Non resident) TIMES: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM WEEK 4 6/30-7/3 (NO CAMP ON 7/4) SCIENCE IS EVERYWHERE! STEM is part of our everyday lives!

This week campers will engage in activities that teach us more about STEM in our lives. Projects will spark their creativity while collaborating to solve challenges.

WEEK 3 6/23-6/27 THE GAMES WILL BEGIN. Join us for a week full of classic and new games. Campers will engage in team challenges, races and sports. Games in the water, in the gym and on the field will build camaraderie and sportsmanship.

WEEK 5 7/7-7/11 CANNONBALL!! - Get ready to make a splash during Water Week at camp! Every day is packed with fun water activities like swimming, water balloon games and even a slip 'n slide.

Cool off with friends while playing games, enjoying water challenges, and having tons of laughs. Whether you love diving in or just want to float, Water Week is the perfect way to stay cool and have a blast!

WEEK 6 7/14 – 7/18 LET’S GO ON AN ADVENTURE! Experience the ultimate outdoor adventure! Campers will tackle outdoor exploration and try new things! Campers will discover their strengths while connecting with friends and the natural world around them.
