Includes a 2.75 mile connection from the Embassy Suites located on John Q. Hammonds Drive to Clover Road in the Riverwalk neighborhood. It includes connectivity along Gateway Lanes, and a crossing to the Hampton Inn & Suites. Trail head parking can be found at the Weddington Road Bark Park, and Embassy Suites. This greenway features over 3/4's of a mile of boardwalk, a public shelter, outdoor classroom, and an observation deck to the Rocky River. Visitors will be welcomed by natural habitat and featured public art at turns along Gateway Lane and Weddington Road.

GEORGE LILES PARKWAY TRAIL Includes a 1.3 mile asphalt path connection from Weddington Rd. to Highway 29 at Christy’s Nursery. Parking currently available at Publix on Weddington Rd.

City Resident Discount: Many of our activities and programs offer discounts to City of Concord Residents due to contributions to the local tax base. If a discount is offered, it is shown as a City Resident Discount, and if applicable, this amount will be deducted from the program fee as indicated. This discount applies to registration fees and not to supplies, materials, equipment, etc.

YOUTH ATHLETICS 3&4 INSTRUCTIONAL CLINIC Designed to introduce players to organized sports.

Rules are simplified, team rosters are reduced, and playing season is compacted to allow maximum exposure in a limited time frame. (All sessions in this division are on Saturdays.)

5&6, 7&8 DIVISION Begins developing fundamentals for each specific sport. Rules are modified to present the optimum playing experience for novice participants.

BRUSHY MOUNTAIN APPLE FESTIVAL

Ages 18 & up

Bus departs at 10:00 AM, arrives in N. Wilkesboro by 11:30 AM. Leaves at 3:00 PM, returns to Concord by 5:00 PM. One of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. Over 100 non-profit arts and craft vendors participate. Musicians will entertain us from the likes of Bluegrass, Country and Folk. There will be over 100 food vendors as well. And of course, apples! – all kinds of food made with apples grown from the mountains of Western NC. This event occurs RAIN or SHINE. Bus departs at 7:00 AM, arrives in Linville by 10:00 AM. Leaves at 2:30 PM, returns to Concord by 5:00 PM. At the Wilson Center for Nature Discovery, find exhibits about the mountain, film theatre, Mildred’s Grill restaurant and gift shop.

Next door, walk through the Animal Habitats to see black bears, cougars, otters, elk and eagles. The Mile-High Swinging Bridge and top Shop visitors’ center are at the very top of the mountain. Don’t worry, unless you’d like to hike it, there is a shuttle that can take you to the top!

Bus departs at 7:30 AM, arrives in Durham by 9:30 AM. Leaves at 2:00 PM, returns to Concord by 4:30 PM. Join us as we walk through the specialized gardens in the heart of Duke University. Our group will be led on a tour as we explore the beauty of nature in their carefully crafted gardens. See why more than 600,000 visitors annually have enjoyed coming to visit.

We will also walk to the Duke Chapel and University. Guided tour will last approximately 60-75 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Lunch is not included in the trip fee, but there are several eateries near the chapel we will visit. Trip will happen RAIN or SHINE, with the exception of lightning.

CITY OF CONCORD TOUR

Ages 18 & up

Bus departs at 10:00 AM. Will return by 2:30 PM. Our great City originated in the 1700's. We will be learning about the history of Concord, driving to explore the areas and sites where historical places started and the growth that has taken us to where we are today. We will embellish on famous people, their contributions and events that have contributed to this great City. Did you know there was moonshining here? How about the discovery of gold? A Syenite Ring Dike? Or the use of a popular church that served as a psychiatric facility? Concord is the 10th largest city in NC and we are 60 square miles. We will be driving to these unknown, historical and sometimes forgotten locations other than our retreat for lunch at a popular location along the way. We will be entertained with history questions, and there will be prizes along the way!

KORNERS FOLLY

Ages 18 & up

Bus departs at 11:30 AM, arrives in Kernersville by 12:30 PM. Leaves at 4:00 PM, returns to Concord by 5:00 PM. Built in 1880, this is the home of artist and designer Jule Gilmer Körner (1851-1924). This is a (22) room Victorian home/museum. We will discover popular art and culture from the 1880's-1910's. You can also wander through the Gift Shop for Victorian inspired gifts.

DANIEL STOWE BOTANICAL GARDENS

Bus departs at 4:00 PM, arrive in Belmont by 5:00 PM. Leave at 8:00 PM, return to Concord by 9:00 PM. We will visit during the evening to enjoy the Holidays in the Garden. Winter will glisten with dazzling lights, sparkling fountains and the holiday decor. This event will be an outdoor and indoor event. Come dressed for walking through the beautifully decorated gardens and horticultural houses. There are fire pits to roast marshmallows and beauty to spark our Christmas wonder. Dogs’ Day Out
