CATS department personnel recently attended and competed in the State Annual Bus Roadeo, held in Rio Rancho and Bernalillo. Saturday drivers attended the Roadeo Prep course while Supervisors attended the Leadership Conference in Bernalillo Sunday morning drivers and judges had to report by 8:00 am at the Rio Rancho Events Center for the Bus Roadeo The competition had 2 categories, cut-away buses and large buses which lasted all day and ended at 4:00 pm.

Driving course featured 8 obstacles which had to be done in under 7 minutes and scored for smoothness of the ride:

Right Hand Turn

Left Hand Turn

Left Hand Reverse

Serpentine Offset

Passenger Stop Judgment Stop

Diminishing Clearance

The Roadeo also consisted of a PreTrip Vehicle Inspection (under 7 minutes) and Wheelchair lift and securement (under 7 minutes.After the competition a Banquet was held to honor all drivers and thank all judges for their hard work during the day CATS drivers were unable to attend as they had to travel back to Clovis to resume normal service

Monday morning All did their very best and had a great time. Good training, peer networking, team building and fun experience.
