Recycling/Clean Up Day

Saturday, April 29

8 a.m.-Noon

760 Civic Heights Drive Public Works Facility

As the weather gets warmer, it is time to clean out the garages and yards. One way to get rid of your garbage, old appliances, tires, old bikes, etc. is to bring them to Recycling/Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 29 from 8 a.m. to noon at the public works facility located at 760 Civic Heights Drive.

Everything will be accepted except for household hazardous waste, recyclables, and yard waste. Some items may have a fee.

This year residents are able to bring 4 free RECYCLE items.

Curbside Leaf Pickup

Spring yard waste and leaf pick-up has been scheduled for Saturday, May 6. This is a free service for Circle Pines residents. Yard waste is identified as leaves, grass clippings, garden wastes, weeds, soft-bodied green plant materials, pine cones and needles, acorns and residential quantities of sod. Yard waste carts are not included in this event.

Yard waste must be free of garbage and in compostable bags. Please have your compostable bags at the curb by 6 a.m.

Adopt-a-Drain

Wayne the Drain, Drainy McDrain

Face, and Lola: A Storm Drain by Any Other Name Would Keep Golden Lake Clean

Stormwater does not get cleaned before entering our lakes and streams. When water flows off our streets and into storm drains, it carries dirt, leaves, and other pollutants that impact the quality of our water and turn them green with algae.

You can take care of your storm drain by sweeping and raking leaves, sand and dirt, trash, and other debris to allow water to flow easily and cleanly down the drain. Participants in the metro-wide Adopt a Drain program are adopting, naming, and cleaning storm drains to protect water quality. Taking care of local storm drains is one of the easiest ways homeowners, renters, businesses, and volunteer groups can help keep Golden Lake and other local waterways clean.

Circle Pines residents have already adopted and named 38 storm drains, but there are many more available. Circle Pines residents reported removing nearly 336 pounds of debris from their drains in 2022; that’s 336 pounds of pollution that was kept out of Golden Lake! Let’s set new records in 2023 by joining other Circle Pines and Anoka County residents by adopting your neighborhood storm drain. Remove snow away from your storm drains to ensure water can go down the drain during frequent freeze and thaws; sweep up extra salt and sand. Spring is also an important time to clean storm drains.

Celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up around your adopted drain. Adopting a drain or two is easy – all it takes is a rake and a broom, a dustpan and a trash can, and a few minutes several times a year. Ready to adopt a drain? Still need more information? Visit www.adopt-a-drain.org to find a storm drain in your neighborhood and get started!

Dog Owners

As the weather has gotten warmer, many of us will be spending more time outside, and many of us will want our pets to enjoy the nice weather and opportunities for play and exercise.

As a good dog owner, there are a few things to keep in mind:

• When walking your dog, please be respectful and keep dogs off of boulevard areas and private property.

• Animals MUST be leashed on public property, such as streets, trails and parks. Animals cannot run at large.

• You are required to pick up after your pet.

• Animals must have an ID tag that indicates the owner’s name, address, and phone number.
