The City of Charles Sturt has a strong commitment to residents who are aged, have a disability and those who care for others. We provide a range of basic maintenance and home support services through the government funded Commonwealth Home Support Program.
Home support Services include:
• Short term cleaning • Spring cleaning • Respite • Shopping,banking and bill paying • Companion Animal Program • Social Programs • Active ageing and wellbeing programs For more information, contact us on 84081111.
Community Transport A door to door community bus shopping service to assist residents to get to their local shopping centre. For more information, contact us on 8408 1111. Maintenance & Security Services include minor house repairs and security installations including: • Essential minor repairs. • Assessment and installation of safety and security equipment. • Annual rubbish removal, gutter cleaning and poisoning of weeds. • Annual yard clean up and pruning for residents aged over 75 years. To access support, you will first need to register with My Aged Care and may also need a home assessment. My Aged Care can help you decide what level of support you need and refer you to an agency. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au You can request which agency you are referred to. If you would like access to a City of Charles Sturt Community Care team service, please let My Aged Care know. My Aged Care will give you a reference number.

Social Programs There are a variety of Social Programs available for eligible residents throughout the City. If you are interested in social gatherings, activities and getting out and about please give us a call on 8408 1279 or 8408 1355. Volunteering Our Volunteers contribute to a vibrant community life. They encourage community independence and improve the quality of life of the community. There are a number of activities that can be enjoyed when you become a Council volunteer, including: • Friendly visiting, bus driving, shopping and transport assistance • Helping at special events, open days and displays • Assisting at Libraries and Community

Grant Funding The City of Charles Sturt administers a number of funding opportunities designed to assist individuals and groups in our Council area.
• DiscretionaryWard Allowance (DWA) • Event and Festival Sponsorship • Heritage Conservation Grants • Under 18’s Sports Program • Change Maker Program for Under 30s

Our Youth Development Team are dedicated to working with local young people, organisations, businesses and community groups to ensure the City of Charles Sturt offers a diverse range of activities, workshops, projects and initiatives for young people aged 12-25 years to actively participate in. Community Centres Community Centres are hubs of activity for people of all ages - providing everything from playgroup to active ageing fitness classes to meet the needs of the local community.
