Building Confidence and Skills for All Ages

Buckeye offers a wide variety of swim lesson at different levels. It is important for students to be registered in the proper level. Please use the age and skill guidelines below to help determine the appropriate level. Participants must meet the skill prerequisites to remain in class. Those enrolled in the incorrect class level will be moved if space permits.

NOTE: A minimum of 4 participants are required to conduct the class. Children not potty trained MUST wear SWIM DIAPERS under swimsuit. REGULAR DIAPERS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE POOL.

PROGRAM FEES: Residents – $20/session | Non-residents – $30/session

The City of Buckeye offers Starfish Swimming Lessons, a renowned curriculum for ages 6 months to adult. Our program sets benchmarks integrating swimming and safety skills, fostering creativity and comfort in the water. From the outset, we instill correct swimming techniques, facilitating an effortless transition to swim team.

StarBabies™ (Adult and infant ages 6 – 18 months) and StarTots™ (Adult and infant ages 18 – 36 months) These courses aim to build water comfort in young children while educating accompanying adults in water safety. While not focused on swimming proficiency or survival skills, they offer a nurturing, confidence-building experience. Each child must have one adult in the water, and swim diapers are mandatory.

Starfish Swim School ® for Preschoolers (Ages 3 – 5) This course caters to children aged 3 to 5, fostering water comfort, readiness to swim, and, for those ready, functional swim skills. Through fun, creative water activities, students progress at their own pace in a small-group setting, aiming to achieve five competencies and benchmarks.

Starfish Swim School ® for Youth (Ages 6 – 12) Students work toward development of the five core swimming competencies using age-appropriate learning activities. Learning is self-paced but challenging.

Starfish Swim School ® for Teens and Adults (Teens ages 13+ and Adults ages 18+) This course is designed to improve comfort and skill in the water, regardless of past swimming experience. Students work toward developing the five basic core swimming competencies using principles of adult learning

Starfish Stroke School™ (This course is for students of all ages who have achieved the green Swim School benchmarks.) Students refine freestyle (White) and learn stroke technique for backstroke (Red), butterfly (Yellow), breaststroke (Blue), and develop endurance (Green).

Celebrate International Museum

Day

Museums are key contributors to the well-being and the sustainable development of our communities. Come explore the character and rich history of your Buckeye Valley Museum.

Did you know Buckeye once boasted a drive-in theatre named Western Star, situated off 4th St and Irwin. It was owned by mother Elizabeth Young and her son Robert in 1955. However, the excitement faded by 1969 as the drive-in’s lone screen went dark.

It's not just the buildings and exhibits that make a museum great--it's the people, too! Stay connected to the museum while we are closed by following us on social media. You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at all the work that goes into making our museum a vibrant and exciting place to visit. Plus, you'll learn fun facts and get a close up of some amazing artifacts. So don't be a stranger--follow us today! facebook.com/buckeyevalleymuseum
