THE fifth annual Maxim Invitational Tennis Charity event met and exceeded its fundraising expectations, raising a total of $156,000. The event, hosted by Maxim Chartered Accountants, brought together 32 local businesses to compete and raise money for local organisations Kulture Break and TADACT at the North Woden Tennis Club. Kulture Break CEO and founder, Francis Owusu, says the event’s $52,000 donation has heightened the organisation’s ability to deliver high quality, effective and engaging dance programs. “The money raised today will be put towards purchasing a community mini bus to support our dance mentoring programs and to promote the inclusion of young people living with a disability,”

Mr Owusu said. “Our passion is to encourage young people to be themselves, to be confident and to provide them with the tools and knowledge to create a positive change within their own lives through creative art forms.” Maxim Chartered Accountants’ partner, Mark Peatey, says the company is pleased to support such a well-regarded local charity. “The tournament was a great outcome for everyone and we are delighted to know the funds will make a difference to the Canberra community,” he said. The Maxim Invitational Tennis Charity event, launched in 2011, has raised more than $400,000 for local charities including Starlight Foundation, The Salvation Army, The George Gregan Foundation and The Cerebral Palsy Alliance ACT.
