Megs Walker ’s rise to success in the real estate industry is the epitome of a true success story.
I love the real estate industry.
She started her career as a sales administration assistant at her dad’s Toowoomba real estate office when she finished high school. She unexpectantly became a single mother of three and did everything she could to care for her children en route to becoming one of the highly respected Queensland A-List agents. “I was really honoured to be named to the A-List,” she said. “It’s great recognition. It’s not an easy job by any means and it takes you away from your family, but it’s a very rewarding job in the sense of the personal
satisfaction you get from helping others.” While a single mum Megs studied and trained to be a registered real estate agent, working six days a week in that job while stocking shelves at Coles five nights. “I had the help of my parents,” she said. “That’s the only way I could have done it. I just wanted to build a career and foundation for my children.” She moved to Cairns for a lifestyle change and through Kendal Booth-Thomson she connected with Matt Powe and Kirsty Kernot of McGrath Cairns. “Matt and Kirsty have

become like family,” she said. “While it’s exciting for Michael (Ortiz) and I from McGrath to have been named to the A-List, it has also been a good representation of our brand.” Megs loves living in Cairns, has met fantastic friends and now has a new partner and three new children. “It’s been awesome,” she said. “I love the real estate industry. You live and breathe it, so you have to absolutely love it, which I do. I love meeting people, developing new relationships and helping people move on with the next stage of their lives.”
