he school ground of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Koramangala was filled with excitement and enthusiasm on 22nd and 23rd December as the junior and senior school sports day were held in the school premises. Khel Milan, the biennial sports meet is an eagerly awaited event in the school calendar. The days prior to the event, as well as the day itself, were marked by tournaments, matches and various competitions. On both the days, the event commenced with the hoisting of the flag by the chief guests of the day followed by the tradition of lighting the lamp. Saroja Sridharan, the Principal of the school extended a warm welcome on both the occasions. The winners of the tournaments and that of the individual events were honoured by the chief

guests. The valedictory function of both the junior and senior sections were well attended by students, parents, members of management and staff. Snacks was distributed to the students on both the days. Junior Sports Day On 22nd December, the sports day and the valedictory function of the junior section (Nursery to std II) took place in the school ground. The tiny tots enthusiastically participated in all the displays and races. The chief guest, Vickramkanth an International Hockey Player and working for Indian Oil Corportaion was appreciated the laudable performances of the students. Sunandha vividly narrated the events of the day. The march past by the UKG students stole the show. Senior Sports Day On 23rd December, the sports day

and the valedictory function of the senior section (std III to XII) were held in the school premises. The displays by std III and IV were spectacular. The march past by the high school students was a treat to the eyes. The excitement on the ground reached its zenith during the finals of the kabaddi match between Paramhansa house and Vivekananda house. Paramhansa

house with maximum points won the rolling Champion trophy, while Vivekananda house stood neck to neck and was declared to be the Runners up. The chief guest Len Aiyappan, an International Hockey Player and Deputy Manager Air India was appreciated the laudable performances of the students. Hamsapriya was the Master of Ceremony.

Meet Janet Yegneswaran: President-Elect of Rotary Koramangala

eet Janet Yegneswaran: The new President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Koramangala - second womanPresident. At 65 she has been an achiever par excellence. Born in Coorg (Kodagu) the land of coffee, honey and green, she migrated to Bengaluru when she joined HMT. Got married to another star achiever R S Yegneswaran whose name was included in the Limca Book of Records as the person world over - with more than 30 Master Degrees from various universities in a multitude of varied subjects - apart from nearly 10 diplomas. After he passed away in 2005, she

started in his memory, The Rajanet Charitable Trust with the objective of planting trees in and around Bengaluru. Over 60,000 trees to add greenery, help the odious effects of the climate change - can visit website treesforfree.org. Has won accolades from various sources, has been recognised for her work and funds flowing for her work from overseas. She surely will bring new initiatives, path breaking ideas to our Rotary Koramangala which she takes over to lead from coming July.
