Browse our site at http://parks.georgetown.org to view available classes, leagues, lessons, camps and facilities. To register for programs online you will need a User ID and password which may be requested online or by calling (512) 930-3595 or (512) 930-3596. Recreation Center Membership Information Membership is the best way to enjoy all that the Georgetown Recreation Center has to offer. Members have access to all facility amenities. Resident fees are available to individuals or families who live within the Georgetown City Limits, verifiable with a current state ID or an unpaid utility bill with current address. Recreation Center Amenities Sitter Service

Amenities include: -Fitness/exercise center The Sitter Service is for children ages 1-7 years -Two racquetball courts old. Please ask for a copy of Sitter Service -Indoor Pool - 25 yards, 9 lanes policies, hours and fees at the front desk. The -Outdoor Splash Pool - seasonal sitter service is not responsible for changing -Aerobics & Multi-purpose Rooms diapers. -Two Gymnasiums -Sitter Service -Indoor Walking Track - 12.5 laps/mile -Event Room - 20 guest maximum -Teen & Senior Center -Equipment Loan Available -Free WiFi Important! Food and drink are not permitted in the game lounge, computer rooms, gymnasiums, irt indoor pool or the sitter service room. Use of the Teen/Senior Center is included in a Georgetown Recreation Center Membership! Food & drink are not permitted in the computer lab, study room or game room. Personal Training Need help with your workout plan? Personal training is available for $35 per hour for residents and $45 per hour for nonresidents; or for $50 per couple for residents and $65 per couple for nonresidents. Massage therapy

Paint Your Own Pottery at the Teen/Senior Center!

For all ages! No creative or artistic ability is required to have fun painting pottery. We offer everything you need to create a great gift and to have fun with family and friends. There are so many different items to choose from in a wide range of prices! Paint-Your-Own Pottery birthday parties are lots of fun, too. Head on over to our Teen/Senior Center and start painting your masterpiece today! Ask staff at the desk for a list of current items and prices. After painting, items will be taken for firing and glazing and will be returned in 7 to 10 days.

Kinderdance is a planned developmental dance/movement and fitness program taught on 2 levels, teaching the basics of ballet,tap and creative dance while blending educational concepts. Junior Master Naturalist

The Junior Master Naturalist Program aims to instill a sense of excitement, passion, and concern and nature, offer students a core knowledge of the natural world in Williamson County, and to bring children and their families into the natural world more frequently. Each class in the course will focus on a different nature topic including bats, birds, wildflowers, and more. Please note that Sept. 22, Dec. 8, March 23, April 20, and May 4 are field trip dates and parents will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the site for their child. A yoga class which allows almost anyone to participate in a very gentle form of Yoga. The KYDSS program is offered August through May. Meetings and trips are offered monthly. Participants attending the meeting have the first opportunity to register for the trip. The Fall/Winter meetings now include a presentation called Armchair Traveler in which a guest speaker will present a slide show of a trip they have taken. Head Tennis Pro Pete Polkinghorn

Pete Polkinghorn joined the tennis staff in May of 2009 as the Center’s Head Tennis Professional. A U.S.P.T.A. certified Tennis Professional since 1980, Pete played for Westlake High School and later played under the guidance of Fred Kniffen at TJC in Tyler. His teaching philosophy centers on keeping things simple and fun for the students. “Simplifying the stroke mechanics for the beginning and intermediate players provide immediate results and a higher level of self confidence for those players just entering the sport or those who have reached a plateau and need help moving to the next level”. Pete also has worked with a number of state and nationally ranked players.

Saturdays from 8:30 - 9:30 am This clinic is for adults who are new to the sport, players with little instruction, or formal players returning to the game. Adult Intermediate NTRP Rating 3.0-3.5

Women’s 7 on 7 soccer leagues are offered in the Spring and Fall. The season will begin on Sunday, August 19, 2012. All games will be played on Sunday afternoons at the youth soccer fields next to the Georgetown Recreation Center. Games consist of 20 minute quarters on downsized fields. Nestled among the trees lining the North San Gabriel River, the Georgetown Challenge Course utilizes play, adventure and fun in an outdoor setting. The basic focus of a challenge course program is teamwork, effective communication, and problem solving. The course consists of numerous low element activities, 22 high elements, and a climbing & rappel tower.

The Program

Basic programs consist of a progression of activities and may be 4 hour, 6 hour or 8 hour sessions. Each session begins with initiative and low element activities before possibly progressing to highs. Two hour specialty clinics are also available such as rappelling and climbing clinics. Based on the information we receive about your group, we then design a program based on your specific goals. The indoor pool at the Recreation Center is a 25-yard competition pool. There are eight six-foot-deep lap lanes. There is also a three foot shallow end with water features and areas designed for swimming lessons. Our programs include water aerobics, lifeguard training courses and learn to swim classes.

City pools and the Outdoor Splash Pool at the Georgetown Recreation Center are closed during the off-season and will re-open in late May. For more information, please visit aquatics.georgetown.org

Aquatics Lifeguarding

The foundation of the ARC Lifeguarding program is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. This class will focus on understanding the value of behaving in a mer, professional manner, learning how to identify behaviors of a swimmer, distressed swimmer and an active or passive drowning victim, ow to understanding the components of an emergency action plan and how cy activate it, understanding the general procedures for an emergency occurring in water or on land, demonstrating how to perform equipment-based rescues, learning how to provide first aid and how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, and learning how to recognize and care for possible head, neck, and back injuries. Fees: Resident: $195

CPR/AED & First Aid

The purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This program offers a choice of first aid, CPR and AED courses to meet the training needs of a diverse audience. Fees: Resident: $110

ARC Junior Lifeguard Safety Camp

Find out what it takes to become a great lifeguard with this junior lifeguarding course. Students will spend time in the classroom and in the pool, learning everything from lifesaving and leadership skills to fitness and professional development. Upon successful completion of this course participants will be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, and Basic Water Rescue through on the American Red Cross. For educational purposes only. Shaded by 200 year old Oak Trees and has several pavilions that can be reserved for a nominal fee.

This pavilion has four large picnic tables, electricity, water, grills and restrooms. There is a large Tree House playground for kids and fishing is permitted in the pond.

The Georgetown Parks & Recreation Department has nearly nine miles of hike and bike trails along the North and South San Gabriel Rivers. There is a 1.6 mile granite loop around San Gabriel Park.

The MISSION of the “Friends of Georgetown Parks & Recreation” is to support the City of Georgetown Parks & Recreation Department in providing programs and facilities to promote the social, cultural and recreational well-being of all residents of the City of Georgetown. We have the following avenues to help us accomplish this goal: *Build a volunteer base to enhance the success of the many recreation and parks activities and projects. *Raise funds through tax-deductible memberships, donations and other activities to provide opportunities such as camperships, swim lessons, tennis lessons and recreation center memberships for those who would benefit but cannot financially participate in these health, fitness and wellness related activities. *Apply for grants and raise funds to assist with capital projects that are warranted within the Parks & Recreation Department. *Promote and support the Parks & Recreation Department activities and projects through public awareness.
