GOAL Animal Shelter Implementation: Next Steps

April 2023 Update

On-boarding

| Budget prepared and presented to the City Commission on April 3, 2023.

| Job descriptions completed and forwarded to HR for posting.

IT Infrastructure

| FPUA has bored under the roadway so that fiber can be laid from Public Works to Fort Pierce Animal Adoption Center (FPAAC).

“Landing site” prepared in Operations Manager’s closet.

Stabilize Vet Services

| Initial meeting with Animal Arts (specialized design group) and Public Works conducted. They will provide drawings and bid package for both the surgery center and the laundry room.

Expand Outreach

| UF consultant is assisting with pairing the FPAAC with Peggy Adams to transport dogs out.

| Continue collaborating with Halifax Humane Society for animal transport (41 animals transported in March).

| Recruiting volunteers to walk dogs downtown. “Adopt Me” vests have been purchased.
