REDISTRICTING 2022: WHAT TO KNOW
The City of Fort Pierce held two Public Input Workshops for Redistricting. Mr. Kurt Spitzer, the City’s consultant for redistricting and map creator, provided two alternative district maps with as close to equal population as possible that are per City Charter and state statutes.
The purpose of the workshops was to bring awareness and education of redis-
tricting requirements for the City's consideration that will revise the election boundar-
ies. Mr. Spitzer further explained the process it took to create the proposed boundaries and the redistricting requirements that followed the 2020 Census. The re-
cap of these workshops and more information can be found by visiting: www.

THE INFILL LIEN REDUCTION PROGRAM

The City of Fort Pierce is excited to announce the establishment of an Infill Lien Reduction Program to encourage new construction on vacant property throughout the entire city. The program promotes reinvestment and revitalization of vacant infill properties by providing the property owner relief from liens levied prior to their ownership in exchange for the development of that vacant parcel.
Once liens and accrued interest approach or exceed the value of a property, there is limited economic incentive to redevelop the property and the blighting influence of the property can continue. This program was created to encourage private investment and to improve blighted vacant properties within the City of Fort Pierce that have existing code enforcement or nuisance abatement liens. To be eligible for the program, the property must be an infill vacant lot within the city limits of Fort Pierce with no active code enforcement or nuisance abate-
ment cases against it. The applicant must also affirm that they were not an owner or affiliated in any way with the property at the time the liens were originally recorded. Via development agreement, the City will waive all soft costs associated with the liens and
provide a 50% refund of the hard costs paid. There will be specific time parameters associated with obtaining building permits and completing the new residential construction to be eligible for the refund. This program will be available on an individual basis. To learn more

THE GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP 2022

The City of Fort Pierce, the Public Works Department, and the Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful Advisory Board would like to thank everyone that participated in this year’s Great American Cleanup! Hundreds of residents, business owners, and organizations came out and picked up areas across the City of Fort Pierce. Areas such as Moore’s Creek, South Beach Park, Means Court, Downtown, Veteran’s Memorial Park, Jaycee Park, Orange Avenue, Avenue D, Jetty Park, N. 10th Street, Virginia Avenue, N. 13th Street, and many more were cleaned throughout the day.
The Annual Great American Cleanup unifies and beautifies the City of Fort Pierce by giving us the opportunity to come together as a community and make a difference where we live, work, and play. It is the volunteer efforts from residents, businesses, and organizations that makes this event possible. Public Works also participated in the event by providing supplies, collecting garbage, giving out water, and sprucing up areas throughout the City. We are extremely thankful, between the volunteers and the Public Works Department, more than 8 tons of litter/garbage was removed from our

beautiful City. Again, thank you to all who participated and we are already looking forward to next year’s Great American Cleanup event. For more information on ways you can get involved and volunteer, please visit the City’s website at
