WELCOME
It is with great honor that I address you as the newly appointed Board Chair of Communities In Schools of South Carolina For more than three decades, we have surrounded students across the state with nurturing communities of support Every day, we work to provide them with the tools they need to become the champions of their own potential
In this report, we celebrate the resounding successes of the past year Our dedicated team and community partners ensure students have the essential resources they need to thrive – from nourishing meals to technological tools, emotional guidance, and beyond. By bridging the gap between community resources and schools, we are advancing equitable education, dismantling barriers, and propelling student achievement The impact we make reaches far beyond school walls – resonating within our communities and painting a brighter future for the tens of thousands of students we serve across South Carolina

2022-23 IMPACT
In the 2022-23 school year, we reached more than 24,500 students, and continued to address inequities head-on – improving our partner schools’ capacities tomeet thediverseneeds ofall students. The data speaks for itself, but it is the human element of our work that sets us apart The relationships our team builds foster improved social skills, boost attendance, and enrich educational experiences. In addition to the one-onone support we provide tocasemanaged students, site coordinators also delivered 4,698 hours of whole-school services
Our comprehensive approach underscores the power of the CIS model, demonstrating that when we work together, we can surmount obstacles, uplift communities, and create lasting change for the students andfamilies we serve.

Our graduation rate of 99% is a testament to the power of one-on-one relationships and the principles that guide CIS While the state's graduation rate stands at a commendable 83 8%, our data proves that success in education is deeply rooted in personalized support.
These relationships, rooted in trust and care, play a pivotal role in helping students navigate the challenges
they encounter along the way As our graduates stand at the finish line of their high school careers, it's clear that
these nurturing connections have made all the difference in their ability to overcome obstacles and achieve their educational goals

True impact is achieved through collaboration In addition to our student-centered programming, we engage the broader community through a series of events and opportunities to join in our mission Events like Illuminate, which raised $112,491, our partner appreciation nights, and the seven school program tours we led throughout the school year, embody our deep-rooted belief that real transformation is only possible when an entire community comes together
We proudly engaged 368 partners and volunteers in the 2022-23 school year By building bridges that connect students and families to the wider community, we forge connections that reinforce our mission and spotlight the profound role each person and organization can play in igniting positive change

LOOKING AHEAD
As we reflect on the past year's achievements and the impact we have made, we are motivated by the possibilities that lie ahead Our path forward is illuminated by our recently unveiled Five-Year Strategic Roadmap – a blueprint that underscores our commitment to amplifying impact and championing equitable education across South Carolina With a clear vision for the next five years, we will continue to break down barriers and cultivate opportunities
Over the course of the 2023-24 school year, our programming will reach more than 25,500 students at 41 schools across the state Through our four focus areas –Organizational Health; Programmatic Advancement & Growth; Organizational Sustainability; and Sector Leadership & Impact – we will solidify ourselves as the foremost leader of wraparound student supports while enhancing our organizational culture and expanding external partnerships Most importantly, we will remain student-driven, datainformed, and evidence-based Our dedication to continuous improvement means that we will always strive to do better, reach farther, and transform more lives.
As we conclude this year's annual report, I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering dedication of our team and support of our partners The path ahead is promising, and together, we will create a future where every student's potential is not just recognized, but fully realized.
