CISCON seeks to put the business community in touch with technologies and providers that would prove beneficial as well as educate students on current and emerging technologies. SPEAKERS Dr. Moniphia Hewling Head, Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT), Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology Moniphia O. Hewling (PhD) is a Cyber Crimes and Security Consultant, often referred to as a cyber-warrior. She is one of the few females in the field of “Cyber”. Dr Hewling, a Jamaican, holds a MAEd in International Leadership and Administration from Western Carolina University, USA, a MSc in Information Technology from the University of Liverpool, and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bedfordshire both in the UK where she also worked and studied for a number of years before returning to Jamaica in 2014. In 2014 after returning to Jamaica she started working at the Ministry with responsibility for Technology with the objective of driving the creation of a robust cyber security framework for Jamaica. She is member of Jamaica’s National Cyber Security Task Force that developed Jamaica’s National Cyber Security Strategy and accompanying implementation plan. Dr Hewling has presented at a number of international conferences both academic and organisational, on topics related to cyber crimes, security, intelligence and forensics. These include The WDFIA ’11, Workshop on Digital Forensics and Incident Analysis, Kingston, London where she presented an academic paper as well as, the UNODC Forum on Cyber Security Public Education and Awareness in February 2017. In 2016 Dr. Hewling was tasked with the challenge of building out and heading Jamaica’s first Cyber Incident Response Team, a division in the Ministry of Science Energy and Technology. In addition to fulfilling that role Dr. Hewling also leads the Public Education and Awareness campaign to heighten the awareness of Jamaican citizens to cybercrimes.

SPEAKERS Sheldon Powe CEO and Director, Innovate10X Sheldon a serial entrepreneur with many successful businesses to his credit is the CEO and Director of Markets and Commercialisation at Innovate 1ox. As the former Group Chief Information Officer of Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB), Sheldon has over two decades in his position as Head of the Technology Unit creating and maintaining a highly professional, customer-oriented and innovative IT function while ensuring that the introduction of new IT solutions are delivered in alignment with the company’s corporate strategy and delivers on the benefits Sheldon’s responsibilities encompass ideation, concept development & optimization, development of launch plans and working with local markets to launch innovation. Sheldon will also be providing oversight on 10XBigthinker© suite of services, setting the 10XBigthinker© agenda and providing all customer related diligence on potential new ventures. Sheldon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona and a Masters degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida. His expertise is supported by various certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Scrum Master and ITIL V certified.

Ryan M. Sterling Co-founder, CEO, Vertis Technology Ryan Sterling is the CEO of Vertis Technology and serves on its Board of Directors. Ryan is responsible for all of the company’s worldwide sales and operations, including end-to-end management of Vertis’ sales activities along with service and support in all markets and countries. He also headed Vertis’ Operations Department and played a key role in the continued development of strategic reseller and supplier relationships, ensuring flexibility in response to an increasingly demanding marketplace. Ryan has over 7 years in Sales and the IT industry. He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from The University of The West Indies and numerous Sales and IT certifications. 8

A patented inventor and creative, Mrs. Simmons spent over a decade at Siemens AG’s Digital Factory Software Division where she led business development and marketing of product lifecycle management technology globally for the company in roles of strategy as well as in the energy and high tech & electronics industries. Global business strategy, sales and marketing executive with Fortune 100 experience in American, European, Asian and African Markets, Mrs. Simmons' career has included strategic roles for Siemens AG, Oracle Corporation and Expedia. Her experience as a master relationship builder with executives, management, colleagues and partners led her to explore many interesting business ventures in the renewable energy, manufacturing, technology and philanthropy industries. Siemens AG, a Fortune 50 German Global conglomerate, she accomplished patents for using software to simulate radiation in Nuclear environments and for simulating multi-echelon industrial manufacturing processes. In addition, whilst at Siemens, she led business development and marketing of product lifecycle management technology globally for the company in roles of corporate strategy as well as in the energy and high tech & electronics industries. She is a leader in diversity & inclusion and Gender Equality Strategies and founded the Women’s Network at Siemens Digital Factory. She developed a training program offering for Siemens that received recognition by the Office of the Vice President of the United States of America Joe Biden. Her philanthropic ventures include developing STEM Education programs for primary and secondary school children in Jamaica, the Caribbean and Africa through her charitable organization the Digital Yard Foundation. Today Mrs. Simmons is the Executive Director for the Andrew Wheatley Centre for Digital Innovation & Advanced Manufacturing (CDIAM) at the Caribbean Maritime University, where she is researching digital transformation using innovative software and hardware platforms. Areas of research alongside industry, includes manufacturing processes related to Additive Manufacturing, CyberPhysical Systems, Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), Big Data, 3D Modeling, Simulation and Test.

Sean Thorpe, PhD President, Jamaica Computer Society Sean Thorpe is an Associate Professor and Head of School of Computing and Information Technology in the School of Computing and Information Technology at the University of Technology, Jamaica. As of February 2018, Dr Thorpe was appointed President of the Jamaica Computer Society. Dr Thorpe also served as the Director of Graduate Studies within the school of Computing and Information Technology.
