Meet t hree CIS st udent s

Pet ra Hello, I?m Petra and I was born in New York. My mom is Danish and my dad is Italian. The hardest part about leaving Italy was leaving my friends back home, but I go back to my home country almost every summer. My favorite thing to do in Italy is to go shopping. I really miss the architecture back home. My favorite food from my home country is of course pasta "bolognaise.? My favorite holiday is Christmas. My favorite thing about living in Denmark is that I can visit my lovely family more often. The biggest difference between Denmark and Italy is the weather because it is really warm in Italy but pretty rainy and cold in Denmark.

This is Michele. He is from Italy and he was born in Poland. The hardest part about moving to Denmark was losing friends. From his home country, he misses the culture because it is different in Denmark. Michele goes to his home country twice a year, his favourite thing to do there is to hang out with his grandparents and cousins. His favourite food from his country is lasagna. His favourite holiday is Easter. Michele?s favourite part about living in Denmark is that it is not dangerous, you can go outside and do pretty much whatever you want. The differences and the similarities between Denmark and Michele?s home country is the language and the similarity is that they are both in Europe.

She is from Florence, Italy; and Copenhagen, Denmark. She was born in Singapore. She misses her family. She goes back to Italy every summer. Her favourite thing to do in Italy is to go into the city and visit historical places. Her favourite food is pizza and her favourite festival is called La Befana. La Befana is a festival after Christmas where a witch comes and gives you presents. A phrase in Italian is ?ciao mi chiamo?which means ?hey my name is?.

The hardest part of moving to Denmark was having to leave her friends. Her favourite part of living in Denmark is that she has some of her family members here. Something that is different between Italy and Denmark is that it is a lot colder here. She likes both places the same. She wants to stay in Denmark because of the friends that she made.

My name is Niccolo. I am from Switzerland. I miss Italy because it is close to water. Also, in Italy I can play in the water in the summer. My favorite thing to do in Italy is to go in the waves when it is summer. My favorite food in my culture is banana. Also, pizza, hamburger and pasta. My favorite day is my birthday and we play games with my friends and my family. In Italy, we do not say table. Table in Italian is tavolo. My favorite thing of moving to Denmark is they speak Danish here and I like Danish.

We eat special chocolate sandwiches and donuts in my grandma?s house. My favorite thing to do in Italy is go to my uncle?s house which is on a mountain in Northern Italy. My favorite food is pizza and my grandma?s green soup. In Italian "ciao" means "hello." In Italy, my grandmather cooks the food, but in Denmark, my mom cooks the food. This is the diffrence between living in Italy and living in Denmark, but the same is that the food is the same.

And he goes back to two times a year, and he likes playing with his cousins and going to the bookshop. His favorite food from his culture is pizza and gnocchi which is a type of pasta and it is white coloured. His favorite festival is la Befana and Christmas. In la Befana you get candies like Santa gives during Christmas. Lahiri would like to tell a word In Italian: Libro, it means book. His favorite parts of living in Denmark are the snow and friends. The difference between Italy and Denmark is that in Italy it is hot and in Denmark it is cold.

His name is Alberto. He is from Italy, but he was born in Brunei/ Malaysia before coming to Denmark. He goes back to Italy on holidays and he likes to eat pizza with mozzarella.

His favorite holiday/ festival is La Befana. During La Befana, there is a good witch that gives you a candy in a sock like Santa Claus might do during Christmas. He would like to teach a word in Italian: mela which means apple. His favorite part of living in Denmark is that the train station is near his home and that he can reach school easily. He would like to tell a word in Italian: serpente which means snake. His hardest part of moving to Denmark was leaving his friends, house and the parks. His favorite part of moving to Denmark is that there are nice people, a good school and less paperwork. The difference between Denmark and Italy is weather, food and bicycles.

Buongiorno! We are Simona and Filippo, parents of Andrea and Luca who are now in 6th grade. We are Italians and moved to Denmark a year ago. We also have a little baby girl, Caterina, aged 11 months. We lived in Rome before moving to Copenhagen even though we are originally from Napoli, a wonderful city by the sea in Southern Italy.

We like living in Denmark, Copenhagen is a nice city, well organized and neat.

When we moved we were impressed by the fact that everyone speaks English and that bureaucracy is much less of a problem here compared to our home country.

We miss Italy, though, mostly our friends, our family and -of course- the nice weather and the food! We go back to Rome quite often and enjoy it a lot. Rome is quite chaotic compared to Copenhagen, but it's a beautiful place to visit and there are a lot of things to do. Whenever we go back we enjoy eating pizza and lots of gelato.

We also like eating mozzarella, fresh fruits and vegetables and we enjoy the variety of fish you can have in our country.

I think there are many differences between Italy and Denmark, maybe the most impressive is the climate, the food but also the way of living. In Italy we tend to be more open and have a very intense social life.

Ciao a tutti, siamo una famiglia italiana, io sono Simona, la mamma, poi c'è Filippo il papà, e tre splendidi figli: Andrea e Luca gemelli di 12 anni che frequentano il 6 grade alla CIS e poi c'è Caterina, la piccola di casa di 11 mesi.

Siamo arrivati a Copenaghen un anno fa, abitavamo a Roma prima di venire qui. Ci piace vivere in Danimarca anche se il clima è pesante per noi, freddo per tanti mesi e ci manca tanto il sole italiano.

Siamo originari di Napoli una bellissima città sul mare dove torniamo appena possibile.

Del nostro paese ci manca il sole il mare il clima e ovviamente il cibo!

This is Tarne. She is from Italy, America and Denmark. She goes back to America and Italy one time a year. Her favorite thing to do in Italy is to taste food from many different restaurants.

Tarne´ s favorite holiday is Christmas. Tarne?s favorite food is calzone made of donut dough with savory fillings. She says that in one hand Denmark and Italy are same because both those countries are in Europe, but in the other hand - they are different because of the language and weather. And she likes being near some of her family members.

This is Pizza. It is a very famous food all over the world. There are different kinds of pizzas like Margherita pizza, Capricciosa pizza, etc.

Past a carbonara Pasta carbonara is a pasta made with fresh egg, some pecorino cheese, chopped bacon and you can add extra cheese on top if you wish.

My name is Margherita. I was born in Mantova, Italy. Mantova is very far from where I lived in Italy. I miss my family in Italy.

My grandmother makes a really good pasta and I miss that too. I also really miss my Italian friends. I go back to my home country usually when we have a holiday at C.I.S. Sometimes we go to different places instead of going to Italy. The favourite thing I like to do in Italy when I go there is go and visit my friends and teachers at school. I sleep at my grandmother's house. In the summer holidays we go to the beach where I meet one of my best friends. My favourite food is my grandma?s pasta. She makes the best pasta bolognese ever. Another food I like is pizza. I like pizza Margherita. My favourite festival is carnival. Everybody dresses up and show their costumes on the road so all the people can see them. They act out what they are dressed up as. They are called ?carri?. One word I would like to teach you is amica wich means friend. The hardest part of moving to Denmark was leaving my family and friends. My favourite part of moving to Denmark is that here there are many activities you can do in the city. I really enjoy it here. There are many differences between Italy and Denmark.

One of them is the climate. In Italy, in the summer, it is warmer than in Denmark. There are many free activities here. A same thing is that I have many friends in Italy and many friends here.

Meet one CIS Famil y

Ciao, siamo Maura e Pino, i genitori di Emanuela e Laura. Io sono nata a Roma e mio marito in n piccolo paese in Basilicata, nel sud Italia. Ci siamo trasferiti a Copenaghen nel giugno 2013 e siamo stati così fortunati da avere un'estate molto calda e soleggiata, così abbiamo potuto goderci tutti i meravigliosi parchi e parcogiochi di questa città amica dei bambini: picnic, gite in bicicletta e visite dei castelli! :-) Qui in Danimarca la temperatura in estate non è mai troppo calda e ti puoi godere tutte le ore del giorno all'aria aperta - a Roma può fare in caldo insopportabile! Torniamo a casa almeno due volte l'anno per stare insieme al resto della nostre famiglia, soprattutto a Natale, la nostra festa preferita. Quel che ci manca dell' Italia sono i soleggiati e caldi giorni invernali. Uno dei nostri piatti preferiti è "straccetti coi piselli" della nonna: striscioline di carne di manzo cotte insieme ai piselli....buon appetito!

Hello, we're Maura and Pino, Emanuela and Laura 's parents.

I was born in Rome and my husband in a small village in Basilicata, South of Italy. We moved to Copenhagen in June 2013 and we were so lucky to have a sunny and very warm summer, so we could really enjoy all the wonderful parks and playground of this child-friendly city doing picnics, biking and visiting castles! :-) Here in Denmark the weather in summer is never too hot and you can enjoy the whole day outside - in Rome it can be unbearably hot!

We go back home at least twice a year to be together with the rest of the family, above all during "Natale" = Christmas, our favourite holiday.

What we miss of Italy are the warm and sunny winter days. One of our favourite food is grandmother's "Straccetti coi piselli", strips of beef meat with peas...."buon appetito"!

This is Meghan. She is from England and America where she was born. However, she lived for five years in italy. She misses the food. She doesn't go back very often to her country because it costs a lot of money. Her favorite thing to do in Italy is shopping with her friends and sister. Her favorite food in Italy is pizza and her favorite festival is Christmas. She misses her swimming team because it was really good. The hardest part to leave in Italy was her school because she really liked it.

Her favorite part of living in Denmark is that it is not so dangerous. Something that is the same in both countries is that they have international people from different countries. A difference between her home country and Denmark is that her home country is bigger than Denmark.

Meet a CIS Famil y

Ciao a tutti, we are Francesca and Paolo Tonon parents of Margherita (5th grade) and Camilla (1st grade). We moved to Copenhagen in January 2015 arriving from Staranzano, a small town in the north east of Italy.

We are originally from Trieste the region capital city, very close to the border with Slovenia and facing the north Adriatic sea. Margherita was born in Mantova, a city not so far away from Milano, while Camilla was born in Stord, Norway where we lived for 5 and a half years.

One thing we have always tried to do is to live close by the sea. Any place without a blue horizon nearby will be a big miss for us. Italy and Denmark are pretty different countries in terms of weather, culture and lifestyle, which means there are several things we miss from our place. At home, we are used to spending weekends by the beach, not so far away from where we live, and this can be done from April to almost beginning of October. During summer the sea is pretty warm which means we can swim for hours. It?s so normal to enjoy a full day with friends by the sea, and close a long hot day by eating pizza on the beach and get the last swim with the sunset. We have our home in Staranzano, where we have built a Nordic style design house and where we fly any time possible so to meet our relatives and friends. While close to the sea, our place is as well only two hours?drive to the mountains and we are in reach of nice skiing tracks. None of us can be called an expert skier, but we love going down the slopes, especially Camilla who seems not to be afraid of speed.

We like living in Copenhagen because it is a capital, but it feels like it is a very small place. Living here is easy and safe. Having lived in Norway, we knew what the Scandinavian lifestyle can mean and we really appreciate it, especially considering the high focus that the Scandinavian countries have on children. We have been very surprised by the food culture we found in Copenhagen. There are so many restaurants that the choice is huge and you can really find whatsoever you like. As well we have enjoyed so far the amount of museums and parks the city has. We especially enjoy a Sunday bicycle ride from Hellerup where we live to the city center. It?s so nice to have this possibility, since in Italy the traffic is too chaotic and there are too few bicycle lanes.

ITALIAN SHORT VERSION Ci siamo trasferiti in Danimarca nel gennaio 2015 per motivi di lavoro. Negli anni precedenti insieme alle nostre bambine, abbiamo vissuto in Norvegia ed in Italia. Quando vivevamo in Italia ci mancava molto lo stile di vita scandinavo. Ci piace molto vivere a Copenhagen, anche se a volte ci manca il clima e il cibo dell?Italia, oltre che I nostril familiari ed amici.

The Boscardi Famil y We are the Boscardi family, we are Italian and moved to Copenhagen last August from Jerusalem. Quite a difference! From the Middle East, one of the most difficult spots in the world, to peaceful and friendly Copenhagen.

We like Copenhagen, its calm, easy to live, there are no check points and you don?t see armed people around, one of the scariest thing in Jerusalem - you could have 18 year olds jogging with a kalashnikov hanging on their shoulders? . We love how easy it is to move around with public transportation and bicycle. The sense of security walking on the streets.

I feared most of all the change of climate, but must admit that it hasn?t been so bad, at least so far. The food offer is also great, either in the supermarkets or at restaurants. You can feel that Danes have indeed sailed and all over the world and brought back an incredible amount of tastes and flavours.

Of course we miss Italy, our friends, our blue sky and sun, the colourful markets and beautiful surroundings. But I found the Danish landscapes extremely beautiful and inspiring. I am no artist, but I wish I was whenever I look at the sea and pass through the woods or in the parks. The light and the nuances of the colours of the nature are so intense here, I just wish I could paint it!

It is always exciting to move to a new country and discover it, but along the line you meet wonderful people that you wish you shouldn?t have to leave and starting again is not so easy. Denmark is no exception, I found it more difficult to get to know people and find new friends here than in Jerusalem. The international community there is smaller and more compact, here we are in a big city and scattered, it is taking more time but I?m sure we?ll get there! I think we?ll have a great time here!!!

Inside of Rome, Italy stands a huge amphitheater known as the Roman Coliseum. In the Roman times, it was used for arena fights as entertainment of the town?s folk. They would take slaves and force them to fight other slaves or animals. The slaves were known as gladiators and were used to entertain the emperor and his court.

Emperor Vespasian created this amphitheater as a gift to his people. Today the Roman Coliseum is a famous tourist attraction where people can walk around the seating area, or take a tour underneath the Roman Coliseum where the animals used to be held and where the gladiators prepared for the fights.

My first visit to Italy was Rome, and I think that the Coliseum was the best landmark I visited. Once I learned the history of the Coliseum, I can almost visualize what people were doing and the excitement of the time.

Table football is a very famous game in the world. It was made in 1980s, in Italy. This is how you play it: There has to be at least two players, but there can be also four or six players. Anot her Landmark in It al y Doge´ s Palace Doge´ s Pal ace was built 592 years ago in Italy. Doge´ s Palace is one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice in Northern Italy. It is type of Art Museum.

Doge´ s Palace was built by Bartolomeo Bon, Filippo Calendario, Antonio Abbondi, Andrea Bregno and Giovanni Bon.

Moncaliri is in Torino. There were so many good restaurants there. Nearly every weekend I went skiing in the mountains.

In the winter, it was snowing alot!!!

My name is Carlo Duva, I?m a 9th grade student. I was born in Milan, Italy.

The thing I miss the most is probably having discussions and arguments with my friends about football teams.

Football is very big part in an Italian person?s life; what?s your team is actually one of the first things you ask when you meet someone. I love football, and I love watching it. I?m a very competitive person and I really like to argue.

Therefore I, definitely miss arguing with my friends about which team is the best.

I go to my Milan every Christmas and Summer breaks. When I go back, my favourite thing to do is, meeting my friends and meeting my grand-parents. When I go back I always like to enjoy a delicious and fair priced pizza... cough...cough...compared to Denmark?s prices. But that?s not my favourite Italian food. My favourite is lasagna; it?s really amazing.

The festivals and holidays in Italy are practically the same as in Denmark. I like Christmas very much because we have dinner with our relatives. We have a big dinner, and we exchange presents.

One word you can learn in Italian is Stanco; it means Tired.

Changing school and meeting new people is very hard when I?m new to a country. I?m very shy, therefore it?s very hard for me to make friends, and the language was a barrier because I spoke very little English at first.

Denmark is the safest place on Earth. It is the main reason I enjoy living here.

It?s safe to go out late at night, so I really enjoy being able to go out without my parents freaking out.

The difference between Denmark and Italy that amazed me the most were the bikes. It was unbelievable how many people went to work by bike, and that there were so many bike lanes. I enjoy going to school by bike.

Vesuvius This photo is of Vesuvius seen from Pompeii, the most renowned touristic attraction in Italy. Mount Vesuvius destroyed the city of Pompeii in A.D. 79. Because the city was buried so quickly by volcanic ash, the site is a superbly-preserved snapshot of life in a Roman city.
