Capturing light and harnessing it to my deepest feelings, to explore, creating a language, the calligraphy of my soul.” Profoundly inspired by the reflections from stained-glass windows in a chapel Chaplin started capturing them on canvas. The series Oxymorons is her way of feeling things in abstraction: becoming a metaphor for life, expressing her feelings towards her father suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, sadness, distress, frustration, questioning the very meaning of life.

In Search of Silence ““Nothing has changed the nature of man as much as the loss of silence,” wrote philosopher Max Picard after WWII. In 1953, the doomsday clock was two minutes to midnight. Today, the clock again is at two minutes to midnight. More than seven billion people live on earth. Megacities emerge and with them, mountains of waste. The earth is heating up. One song on Roger Waters latest album begins with the voice of Donald Trump. “Is this the life we really want?” Water asks. With my photos, I want to create a counterpoint by showing silent moments with the intention of taking the viewer away from the noise of everyday life.“

“Our society values youth more than age and progress more than tradition, resulting in death being treated as a taboo. Working in the medical field in Japan, a country with many superstitions, gave me the ability to perceive the world from two contrasting perspectives. Over time, I came to view the world as layers and linkages of human lives and histories. My work, influenced by Asian philosophy and rituals, archaeology, as well as my scientific knowledge, represents my understanding of the importance of accepting death on a larger level. In my artwork, I am interested in creating unity of the opposites that constitute our world. I present my view of death as another form of being alive.”

Desert Pampas II Digital Photography - Pigment Ink on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Paper 24 x 24 in.

“There is much beauty to behold in this world, moments that the eye captures, the wonders it sees... moments that should be committed to perpetual memory, but sadly only to become fragments of a faded recollection, or more often, simply forgotten. I draw inspiration to record these timeless and special moments, to capture them in my mind’s eye, and through my lens, transforming each image so that I can share them with others in hope they too may see what I see and find equal enjoyment.”

Second Angel Pouring out His Bowl on the Sea Oil on linen 140 x 200 cm

Robert van de Graaf is interested in the connection between the mystic of this world, and all its elements (the sea, the sky, nature, fire, light, and darkness), and the sense and the dimension of the other world. Myths, mystical places or stories, from history and present days are the source of inspiration for his artworks.

Vun’s ultimate intention with her art is to rigorously investigate the diverse meanings of architecture, while simultaneously disclosing the creation process as a prominent feature. Whether directly through the subject matter of her art or through a live art performance, Vun stimulates conversations and provokes ideas about the relationship between architecture and process. The work of anARCHI design is rooted in translating design ideas through more relatable conditions; imaginatively expressing architecture through the subjective context of visual art.

“I dreamed of designing houses and cities, and then it turned out that I started designing the whole world. - without borders, and without limitations, with its laws, and its philosophy. A world that I do not know at all, but the more interesting it is to dive into it and recognize it. Moreover, this is my world, and it’s up to me to decide what it should be like. I began.“

Now You See Me, Now You Don’t Acrylic on canvas 48 x 48 in.

“We live in the segregating dimension of physicality. This is how we are able to view things. Our minds work in duality to create three-dimensional space, stereo sound, and language we can comprehend. Our external and internal perceptions are opposing sides of the same coin. They are inextricably linked and cannot be separated. Our perspective on reality is consequently divided- thesis, antithesis; space, negative space; matter, antimatter.”
