A new Lower Price Hill manufacturing plant is expected to bring additional jobs to the area. Nehemiah Manufacturing LLC is moving from Queensgate to 1907 South St. It is expected to bring 50 additional jobs to the area. The new plant will occupy the site of the former Queen City Barrel which was destroyed by a fire in 2004. The site had been vacant for years during which a $9 million cleanup was
conducted. Nehemiah built a new warehouse at the site as part of an $11 million project. The building will contain Nehemiah’s offices as well as production and storage. “We wanted to stay in the inner city,” said Dan Meyer, CEO of Nehemiah Manufacturing, which originally began operation in Norwood in 2009. “The (Lower Price Hill) site was large enough and an area that could use the support of sustainable employment and investment in the community.” Nehemiah specializes in consumer packaging including baby and toddler
items such as Kids Kan Do and Boogie Wipes and also holds several licenses from Procter & Gamble in the sale of brands such as Dreft, Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator and Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus. The company also focuses on employing individuals who may traditionally be tough to hire, according to Meyer. These are people who may have some type of felony conviction or gap in employment. “We have found they are (among) the most productive and loyal (workers),” Meyer said. See PLANT, Page 1A
