Banding together

Students informally surveyed at Sycamore High School said that Blue Ash needs more places to “chill.” Adults at a Blue Ash City Council work session earlier this year said they were interested in more “diverse leisure-time activities.” SEE STORY, A3

Moeller High School’s basketball team and its fans were in familiar territory over the weekend – the Division I state finals in Columbus. The ending, though, was different. After defeating Mentor – the team that ousted top-ranked Columbus Northland – 66-59 in overtime Friday, the Crusaders stayed close to Massillon Jackson for a half, then faded in the second half of a 5734 defeat. Moeller was seeking its fourth state title – winning in 1999, 2003 and 2007. “This was probably a year we weren’t expected to be here,” Moeller coach Carl Kremer said. “We had a tough night, but I couldn’t be prouder of our kids.” Moeller finished the season 22-5.

Blue Ash will pony up a total of about $300,000 to keep two companies from leaving the city – saving 670 jobs and adding as many as 130 more. The Wornick Co., which makes ready-to-eat meals for the military and victims of disasters, employs
