he zone change request for a proposed multifamily development on about 10 acres on the west side of Nagel Road, across from Pineterrace Drive, moves on to the Anderson Township Zoning Commission. The case will be heard by the commission at its meeting 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, at Anderson Center. Earlier in July the zone change request was the subject of a meeting at the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission. The commission recommended approval of zone change request from “B” Residence to “DD” Planned Multiple Residence District but with eight conditions. The conditions are: » a landscaping plan be submitted meeting the minimum standards of the zoning resolution as part of the final development plan; » a more detailed parking plan be submitted meeting the minimum standards of the zoning resolution, including the appropriate size of parking spaces, appropriate lighting and appropriate landscaping and buffering as part of the final development plan; » any dumpster screening comply with the zoning resolution; » the development comply with the Hamilton County Thoroughfare Plan; » buildings comply with the maximum building height re-

quirements of the zoning resolution; » all signage comply with the zoning resolution; » sidewalks be installed along the frontage of Nagel Road, and connected to trails within the development in accordance with the Anderson Township Zoning Resolution; » additional buffering be installed along the parcel adjacent to the frontage of the site in order to provide a solid screen for the adjacent singlefamily home and that this landscaping be required and approved by the Anderson Township Zoning Commission as part of the Final Development Plan. The Anderson Township Zoning Commission will make a recommendation to the Anderson Township Board of Trustees which will hold a final hearing and make a decision regarding the zone change request. If the zone change is approved, the focus will turn to the multi-family development proposed for the site. The Mayerson Co. proposes building luxury apartments in the area. The community would consist of three buildings, one of which is four stories tall, Anderson Planning and Zoning Director Paul Drury said in an earlier interview. The proposed development, according to the application letter, will have a total of 182 rental units consisting of 64 one bedroom units, 104 two bedroom units and 14 three bedSee NAGEL, Page 2A
Strap on running shoes to help ‘Stomp Out Hunger’ Sheila Vilvens svilvens@communitypress.com
“I’ve never really been a runner.” That’s what Anderson Township’s John Schraut said. Several years ago this all changed. Call it divine intervention, a passion for feeding the hungry or both, Schraut found himself invested in area run/walk events. “We’ve always done the walk downtown,” he said of the Freestore Foodbank’s Hunger Walk and 5K Run. As a volunteer for Inter Parish Ministry, he then got on the IPM team running the Stomp Out Hunger 5K Run/Walk. Though never a runner, Schraut said, “All the sudden I just take off running and I’ve done well.” This might be an understatement. Now 69, Schraut
has medaled in his age group in every race in which he’s participated, he said. His favorite race, however, is Stomp Out Hunger. “It’s one of the nicest 5Ks I do,” he said. “The scenery, the landscaping...but it’s a tough course with the hills.” The seventh annual Stomp Out Hunger 5K Run/Walk, organized by the Vertical Impact Youth Group of Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, will be Saturday, July 30. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with the run/walk starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost for pre-registration is $30 with an athletic t-shirt, or $15 for the race only. The day of race cost is $35 with an athletic T-shirt or $20 for the race only. To pre-register visit www.registrationspot.com. The race to reduce hunger will begin and end at Armstrong
Chapel United Methodist Church, 5125 Drake Road in Indian Hill. It is a family friendly race that even includes dogs. Race proceeds benefit Inter Parish Ministry’s Choice Food and Clothing Pantries. Each year, the Stomp Out Hunger 5K grows in popularity and includes more participants. “We are excited to host this event again, which makes such an impact on fighting summer hunger,” Armstrong Chapel youth director Kyle Hazen said. “The funds raised will help fill Inter Parish Ministry’s Choice Food Pantry’s shelves, which are usually out of food by midsummer every year.” During the past seven years, this youth lead race as raised more than $18,000, enabling IPM to distribute more than
