Ex-prosecutor, woman called ‘MILF’ among 28 charged in drug conspiracy Kevin Grasha Cincinnati Enquirer USA TODAY NETWORK

Among the 28 men and women charged in a large methamphetamine conspiracy is an attorney, a man known as “Cooter” and a woman known as “MILF.” The conspiracy lasted from 2018 until June of this year and involved at least half a kilo of methamphetamine, according to court documents. An indictment unsealed earlier this month in federal court in Cincinnati lists addresses in Adams, Brown and Highland counties that were allegedly used to distribute controlled substances. Cathy Adams, the attorney charged in the conspiracy, was an assistant prosecutor in Clermont County between 2013 and 2015, according to her LinkedIn page. She also previously worked as a public defender in the county. Court documents don’t describe Adams’ alleged role in the conspiracy. One of her attorneys, Bill Gallagher, declined to comment. Among those accused of using homes to distribute drugs are: Christopher “Cooter” Staten, 40, and his sister, 43-year-old Misty Staten. Court documents say Christopher Staten operated out of a home in Adams County, and Misty Staten, along with two others, used a home in Brown County. Misty Staten also faces charges in a separate federal case. She was accused of sending meth-

amphetamine in two letters, in July and August 2018, to an inmate at the Butler County Jail. According to court documents, investigators conducting surveillance of her home saw a man drive up to the home in an Audi sedan, intending to sell her drugs. Both Staten and the man, 29-yearold Jaron Brock, were arrested. Investigators found about 100 grams of methamphetamine in Staten’s bedroom, the documents say. About 200 grams of meth was found inside the Audi. Brock is charged in that case as well as in the conspiracy. Terri Ard, who according to an indictment is also known as “MILF,” is accused of using a home in Mount Orab, which is in Brown County, to distribute drugs. Sixteen of the 28 defendants are being held at the Butler County Jail. The remaining 12 have been released on their own recognizance, meaning they didn’t have to post bail. Attorneys for the Statens, Brock and Ard did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Conditions of Adams’ release include: she can’t obtain a passport; can’t travel outside of the southern half Ohio; and must participate in substanceabuse testing and treatment. Also charged in the conspiracy are: Angelo Collins and his son, Joe Collins, of Brown County; Charity Cope; Fred Cupp; Lisa “Old Girl” Davis; Nathan Fender; Amy Johnson; Raymond John-
