FLORENCE – Superintendent Randy Poe will continue to lead Boone County Schools for four more years. At the June 9 Board of Education meeting, the board voted to extend Poe’s contract until 2020. Poe has been the superintendent in Boone County since 2008 and was a deputy superintendent for the district before that. While Poe joked that he hopes he’ll be retired by then, he thanked the board members for their confidence. “I really appreciate all the support I have received from the board over the years,” Poe said after the vote passed. Poe was praised for his hard work in the district, including

Earlier in the meeting, the board recognized students who participated in the Early College program, which allows students to take college courses while in high school. Poe said the program was an incredible success during its first year and he was looking forward to seeing more students enrolled in the program. In 2015, Poe was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Northern Kentucky Education Council and was awarded The F.L. Dupree Outstanding Superintendent Award by the Kentucky School Board Association. In 2013, the Kentucky Association of School Administrators awarded Poe Superintendent of the Year.
