Human Resource for Health
Medical Education Resources, Research, and Development System
The medical education system in Indonesia is a journey for medical students to become a doctor. A good doctor will be born when they are professional, fulfilling the standard in Standar Kompetensi Dokter Indonesia (SKDI), and learning to do Breaking Bad News (BBN). On the other hand, to help save the patient and give the best treatment, doctors need to have clinical skills. In Indonesia, these skills still need improvement and application in medical education which can affect the quality of doctors in the future. In order to help provide an activity to become a good doctor, SCOME CIMSA UI held an event named Good Doctor 2023 which will accommodate fulfilling the SKDI, knowing how to do BBN, and understanding the clinical skills.
On 1st April 2023, Good Doctor held its first main event in the form of webinar and talkshow. The webinar brings in the topic of “How To Break Bad News: A Guide for Health Care Professionals” that is brought by dr. Dewi Friska, MKK,SpKKLP. After the webinar session ended, the session continued with a talkshow with dr. Djoko Widyarto JS, DHM., MH Kes. as Head of Ketua Majelis Kehormatan Etik Kedokteran (MKEK) Pusat Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI) 2022-2024 and moderated by Rosa Syahruzad, S.Ked who brought in the topic about "Implementing Social Accountability Through Social Media Ethics.”
On 15th of April 2023, Good Doctor held its second main event which is held two days of online lecture class in collaboration with Asclepio that brings in the topic of clinical skills. The first day is being teached by dr. Ericko Hartanto and dr. Lidwina Sonora with the materials for “Pungsi vena, kanulasi, intravena perifer, dan pemasangan infus; Injeksi IV dan IM; Kewaspadaan isolasi, anestesi infiltrasi, dan blok saraf; Pemeriksaan fisik muskuloskeletal ekstremitas atas; Pemeriksaan fisik muskuloskeletal ekstremitas bawah; Pemeriksaan fraktur tulang panjang dan lower back.” At 16th April 2023, dr. Mochamad Tito Adityo Pratama teached with the materials for “Pemeriksaan visus, kampimetri, tonometri, dan funduskopi; Pemeriksaan fisik THT; Pemeriksaan neurologi.”

To celebrate World Bioethics Day (WBD) on October 19, 2022, SCOPE CIMSA-UI has conducted a series of events for increasing knowledge about medical bioethics in Indonesia. Based on a study in Oman, 52% of a total of 200 participants reported that the teaching of medical ethics during medical school was inadequate. The majority of physicians (73%) also report that they frequently encounter ethical dilemmas in their practice and 24.5% support the view that unethical decisions are likely to occur in their practice. One of the cases that raise ethical issues in Indonesia is the discovery of the use of marijuana as a drug which is not only beneficial for the patient's health but also causes other side effects for the patient. That's why for this year WBD raised the topic of Bioethics Observation of Marijuana (BOOM) as a discussion. BOOM's main event was held via Zoom Meeting on Saturday, 19th November 2022, consisting of two sessions of webinar and panel discussion with a total duration of 120 minutes. Before that, campaigns on Instagram have also been carried out to promote world bioethics day in the form of twibbon and What’s Your Opinion about Marijuana.
Before the webinar started, participants were given a pre-test to determine their initial understanding of the webinar’s material. After that, we began the first webinar session, which was presented by dr. Nafrialdi, Ph.D., SpPD. He explained the law and bioethical insight of marijuana as medicine in Indonesia. After knowing more about the law and bioethical of marijuana as medicine, participants had the opportunity to increase their knowledge and awareness about bioethics.
The second session of the event is the panel discussion which was moderated by dr. Yoga Arif Syah Hidayat, and there’s Prof. dr. Menaldi Rasmin,Sp.P(K),FCCP and dr. Nafrialdi, Ph.D., SpPD as the panelists. They discussed the history of cannabis use, the significant use of cannabis for medical purposes in Indonesia, the impact of cannabis positively and negatively, the efforts to control cannabis abuse if it is legalized, terms of the medical code of ethics, and the mechanism if cannabis going to be used legally in Indonesia. After the panel discussion finished, participants were given a chance to ask the panelist about what they haven’t understood yet and give their opinion about marijuana.
After this event, SCOPE CIMSA UI members and society are expected to understand more about the law and bioethical insight of marijuana as medicine in Indonesia and be ready to use their knowledge in SCOPE CIMSA-UI future activities.

As a tropical country, Indonesia has a relatively high prevalence of worm disease which varies between 2,5%–62%. This makes worms one of the most common parasites causing tropical infectious disease which infected around 13 millions preschool aged children and 37 millions elementary school aged children. In addition, data from the Ministry of Health Indonesia in 2015 showed that 6–12 years old children are susceptible to contracting intestinal worms through their daily activities which are transmitted through land and contaminated food or water. Poor sanitation that still occurs in Indonesia, reaching only 40%–60% cities with good access to healthy sanitation, and poor implementation of healthy living behavior have also influenced the occurrence of worm disease especially among elementary school aged children. This issue becomes more important since worm disease can lead to poor health conditions, such as anemia, malnutrition, growth and immunity disturbance, and cognitive decline. Thus, in order to raise public’s awareness regarding healthy lifestyle and worm disease prevention, SCOPH and SCORE CIMSA UI collaborated through an activity named WORMIES (Waspadai dan Cegah Risiko Cacingan melalui PHBS) X SGP (SCORE Goes to Public) Level IV that consists of air campaigns, online challenges, health seminars, and workshop.
WORMIES’ air campaign and online challenges encompassed several infographics about worm disease and its prevention, myths or facts quizzes, and twibbons. WORMIES also presented an educational video about meat processing, collaborating with the Department of Parasitology FKUI. The main event itself was held on 1st March 2023 at SDN 05, 07 Kalibaru which was also in collaboration with the Department of Parasitology FKUI. The event started with an educational seminar for both parents and 3rd–5th grade students simultaneously and topics around worm disease, its transmission, preventions, and healthy lifestyle implementations. We also held an educational workshop for students where SCOPH and SCORE members directly taught the students how to wash hand properly based on WHO’ six steps of hand washing and how to cut nails. Alongside the health seminars and workshop, we also performed research activities through data collecting using questionnaire to further see the knowledge, attitude, behavior, and socio-economy factors as risk factors for intestinal worm disease on children, also student’s feces sample collecting to be examined in the Laboratory. Through this activity, WORMIES were able to engage more than 40 general publics, also educate 160 students and 40 parents in SDN 05, 07 Kalibaru on healthy lifestyle and worm disease.

HIV is one of the most common health problems in various countries with cases of 38.4 million sufferers worldwide as of 2022. The presence of the Covid-19 pandemic has also influenced people living with HIV to have a higher prevalence of being at risk and experiencing complications of Covid-19 compared to people who are not infected with HIV. Moreover, the emergence of stigma related to HIV/ AIDS has a negative impact on the health and well being of people with HIV. Based on the assessment of 112 respondents, Indonesian level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS is still relatively poor (55.28%), especially regarding general information about STDS, including the spread, prevention, and testing. Furthermore, the assessment also showed a poor interpretation of public awareness of HIV AIDS.
This year, SCORA CIMSA UI presented PERFECT (Prevention and Awareness of HIV/AIDS with The Fact) to commemorate World AIDS Day 2022. In order to increase the public’s understanding and awareness regarding HIV/AIDS, PERFECT held an air campaign, ground campaign, and main event.
The air campaign encompassed infographics about HIV/AIDS, fact or myth quizzes, and public twibbon. On the 1st December, SCORA CIMSA UI gathered around wearing red clothes and gave people the red ribbons, as an awareness ribbon, a way to raise awareness and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Meanwhile, the ground campaign “WAD on The Road” was carried out along Jenderal Sudirman Street during car free day by educating society about HIV/ AIDS to 51 general people on Sunday, December 11th.
Our main event was held at the Ministry of Village Hall, on Saturday, December 17th, with an educational seminar “Breaking Down HIV/AIDS with The Fact” which discussed the understanding, prevention, transmission, and management of HIV/AIDS by Adhe Julian from Yayasan AIDS Indonesia and talk show session
“Perspectives of ODHA” with founder of LSM Kuldesak, Hages Budiman, to gain insights and straightening out the stigma in society regarding discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS and other STDs. Over 200 participants registered our main event and there was an increase in the test results from pretest to posttest by 11.3%. Furthermore, to increase a sense of solidarity, we held an internal session of SCORA CIMSA UI with four PLHIV friends from LSM Kuldesak through the One Day with ODHA activity and video messages for PLHIV were played at the end of the day.

Based on data from the Scientific American Survey (1994), the annual contribution of Indonesian scientists and scholars to knowledge, science, and technology is only 0.012 percent. The low interest in research is caused by the lack of knowledge and understanding of writing scientific papers properly and correctly. To increase the knowledge and understanding of SCORE CIMSA UI members about basic research, SCORE CIMSA UI held an online training event named SGP Level 1 REBOOT (SCORE Basic Research Training) on Saturday, 4th September 2022. SGP Level 1: REBOOT event was held via Zoom Meeting, consisting of 2 sessions of webinars, an ice-breaking session, and a workshop session with a total duration of 285 minutes.
Before the webinar started, participants were given a pre-test to determine their initial understanding of the webinar’s material. After that, we began the first webinar session, which was presented by SCORE CIMSA UI alumni, Eric Ferdinand. He explained the introduction and concept of statistical analysis and how to implement it by using SPSS. After knowing more about statistical analysis and SPSS, participants had the opportunity to practice it directly. The workshop activity was held successfully due to the high enthusiasm of the participants.
Before getting into the next webinar session, we had an ice-breaking session to lighten up the mood. We played guess the childhood photos of CIMSA UI and SCORE UI members for 20 minutes. The ice-breaking session was held successfully with the members participation.
The second session of the webinar was presented by SCORE CIMSA UI alumni, Nadine Aurelie. She explained basic research knowledge comprehensively, such as types of data, how to calculate sample size, sampling techniques, research instruments, and instrument validity and reliability. Before the webinar started, participants were given a pre-test to determine their initial understanding of the webinar’s material.
After this event, SCORE CIMSA UI members are expected to understand more about the basics of research and ready to use their knowledge in SCORE CIMSA UI future activities.

Vulnerable People
TPST Bantargebang is one of the biggest landfills in the world with an area of more than 104 hectares. There are approximately 6000 scavengers living with vulnerable social and health rights in TPST Bantargebang. This is due to their unhealthy home environment that could cause health problems, such as acute respiratory infection, skin problems, and gastrointestinal complaints. The factor risks underlying their disease are low personal hygiene, long working-time duration, poor water sanitation, and inadequate personal protective equipment for the scavengers in Bantargebang. Low health levels of people in Bantargebang is also caused by the unavailability of health insurance from the government to protect the people in Bantargebang.
In order to fix that, the Bantargebang community and people in general need an increase in awareness about their rights to achieve proper living, especially for health rights. Hence, SCORP CIMSA UI is interested to contribute more in this field in order to achieve human rights for all through the Health for the Marginalized (HEAR!) event.
On 2nd of February, 2023, HEAR! uploaded a video through CIMSA UI’s Youtube Channel about Bantargebang scavengers’ condition. HEAR! also held a panel discussion about “Health Insurance for the Vulnerable: Bantargebang Scavengers” and was attended by Komisi Persampahan Nasional and the Head of PBHI to increase awareness and knowledge for the public about their health rights. On 4th of February, 2023, HEAR! held another panel discussion about “Medical Waste Management Problems in TPST Bantargebang” and was attended by Kementerian Kesehatan, Komisi Persampahan Nasional, and WALHI Nasional to increase awareness and knowledge for the public and stakeholders to make regulations about medical waste management. This series of events is followed by providing education about sanitation, clean water, and WHO’S 6 steps of hand washing to Bantargebang people and also followed by a free medical check-up for the scavengers.
Through HEAR!, we really hope all parties, including the Bantargebang people, the public, and stakeholders, can be aware, pay attention, and contribute in creating policies to end human rights problems, especially for scavengers in Bantargebang.
