Touching boundaries Most of the inspiration for my latest series of paintings comes from my everyday surroundings and activities. Drinking my morning coffee, doing work around the house, relaxing after work, even just breathing. All the little cycles and repetitions in my day-to-day life. I guess it all comes down to time - its influence on our lives and the way our perception changes with its passing.

The minimalism and often near-monochromatic colour palette are a statement against the modern world’s visual and informational

overload. I use the simplification of composition and colours to seek inner peace and escape all the noise surrounding me when I leave the studio.

I find that sometimes the composition of those paintings resembles a page from a sketchbook or a calendar, or perhaps even an ultra-minimalist mobile app. However, I do not intend for them to appear this way.

All my paintings and drawings are fundamentally non-objective. I typically start with a rough idea of what I want to achieve,

but who knows how it will turn out in the end? The process always starts in the same way: stretching the canvas, a few layers of stained gesso and some pencil-drawn reference lines - sometimes strictly adhered to, sometimes, well... not so much. Familiar beginnings, unknown results.
