Celebration for the 22nd CICAF Anniversary

Hello everyone,

I am Ziona Zhou, the Executive Director of the Canada International Children’s Art Festival. This year marks the 22nd anniversary since the festival began in 2002. Our theme for this year is “Time Fantasy,” which encourages children to delve into their imaginations, reflect on the past, consider the present, and envision a brighter future. We are thrilled to announce that the offline exhibition will be held at Toronto City Hall from August 9th to August 15th, and we warmly invite all parents and children to join us.

This year’s festival theme is: Time Fantasy. Time is an eternal journey, weaving countless touching stories in our lives. It is the witness of the years, recording every bit of our growth; it is the guardian of memory, retaining our most precious fragments and memories. However, time is also a dream, taking us into unknown areas and allowing us to explore those wonderful worlds of mystery and fantasy. The art festival aims to make all children in the world pay attention to human history, care about the environment, love life, and be the future masters from an early age, and express the beautiful world in their hearts through art.

What is particularly noteworthy this year is that the AIGC painting and short film categories added for the first time are a historic innovation that injects new vitality and creativity into the Canadian International Children’s Art Festival. Artistic innovation is in line with the trend of the times and incorporates innovative elements of AI technology. Through AI technology, artists can explore more unprecedented creative possibilities, from digital art to virtual reality, showing the infinite possibilities of future art and making it

easier for more children to participate. The art festival pays special attention to the artistic life of ethnic minorities, remote areas and children with intellectual disabilities, so that they have the same good wishes and opportunities to express their artistic creations as normal children.

We have received generous support from organizations such as the Red Cross, the federal government’s New Horizon for Seniors program, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Ontario Senior Community Grant, and the United Way. These funds are dedicated to various activities related to art therapy and the mental health of children and seniors from minority and low-income families. Our initiatives include training mental health ambassadors, offering art healing courses, and providing professional counseling services to raise mental health awareness and help more children and elderly individuals experience the therapeutic benefits of art.

Thank you all for your support and participation. The success of this festival depends on your support. Children are our future, and art transcends boundaries. We believe the festival will continue to thrive. Let’s work together to create a brighter tomorrow.
