I’m Lucas Belicovski, aka Lucas Boston. I am a DJ and producer, but also a Co Founder at
When did you start DJing? Did you have any musical background before becoming a DJ / Producer?
I initially started to DJ when I was around 11 years old, however it wasn’t until I was 18 that I truly fell in love with the nightlife scene and decided to take what was once a hobby, more seriously. Along with this, I didn’t have any musical background before beginning producing in 2020 lockdown. My main source of knowledge came from watching a variety of different YouTube videos based on the art of music production.

How would you best describe your style when it comes to DJing? And how does this influence your music?
I would best describe myself as energetic. Depending on the set I am playing, I usually like to start it more groovy and slower. More recently, I’ve been showing a faster paced side of me. This resonates within my music where I am renowned for creating fast 90s rave and trance inspired tracks.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration has definitely been my peers around me on a local scale who are achieving some major personal and industry goals. I feel as if the people closest to meare always pushing me to do better and motivating me to work harder because if I don’t, someone else will. Someone in particular who inspired me was Deadmau5 back in 2012. I loved listening to all his music and more importantly being so memorised by the never before seen mouse costume. After initially hearing his music, it made me fall in love with electronic music and ever since then my heart hasn’t stopped beating for it.
What made you want to start CICADA? What separates CICADA from other events?
The hardest thing when becoming a DJ is stepping out of that bedroom DJ phase and trying to secure a gig in a nightclub. This is one of the main reasons why I wanted to startsound takes flight
CICIADA and give myself and the friends around me an opportunity to showcase ourselves on the big stage. Another reason was to push a niche sound throughout Naarm, and help be a part of the future of this scene whilst also having a crazy fun time while doing it.
Where do you see yourself and the Lucas Boston brand in the next 2 years?
I’m going to keep this one short and sweet, the goal is to be touring around Europe, playing some amazing shows alongside some of my good friends.
What has been your personal highlight of 2022?
The most unreal highlight of the year would probably be… being able to say that I’ve travelled around Australia to play shows in a different state. When I first started DJing I never would’ve imagined that I’d have such an opportunity to be able to do what I love most and travel at the same time. I’ve had such an incredible opportunity to meet so many new faces and build hundreds of meaningful connections with people involved in the industry!
