ABC Connecticut Recognizes Boil Off Gas Compressor Upgrade

In October, Cianbro received the 2021 Excellence in Construction Award for the Boil Off Gas Compressor Upgrade from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Connecticut Chapter. This merit award was given in the category of Industrial/Small Projects.

Cianbro completed the construction and installation of a new boil off gas compressor upgrade at an LNG Facility in southeastern Massachusetts, while the facility continued to operate safely and reliably.

The LNG Facility is a peak-shaving satellite facility constructed in the early 1970s. It plays a vital role in delivering sustained gas service primarily to meet peak demand by its customers.

The scope of work involved civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and hoisting and rigging. Additional details included constructing the new compressor building, receiving and placing the compressor units, fin fan coolers, pre-heaters, and pumps on the installed foundations, installing structural steel and foundations for new pipe rack from the compressor building to tank farm area, and completing all tie-in connections from the existing plant to the new buildings, compressors, and equipment skids.
