CAMPUS DESIGN academic project 2020

SITE : YELWALA ,MYSORE

A Horticulture college located on the outskirts of Mysore, the design attempts to create a superblock that is integrated with a circulation that reminds the users of the key roots of agriculture -soil/water.The users interact with these elements within the superblock in different spaces. this creates a oppurtunity to learn from each other outside classrooms

The volumes are connected through the pathways which are introduced to different users ,the students can use the skywalk to directly enter the classrooms and the farmers use the mud path which follows the natural contours of the site leading to the farms and labs

The staircases are designed to create spaces within the contours and create different spaces to interact. the stairs are designed as an informal space where students can gather around it.

EAST ELEVATION

The floor level is split at different heights so that they open up the volumes and act as visual connectors between floor levels.

The volumes are lifted on columns so that the natural contours of the site are preserved and are used for direct access to the farms

The library opens up to the fields and open spaces. The wall fins shade the facade but allow diffused light to the interior reading spaces

The plazas are designed along the contours.the circulation is intercepted by these plazas where they act as social condensing spaces

The Traveling Shelter competition project 2020

SITE : VELAPUR,MAHARASHTRA

In the span of one night, a Dindi of around 500 people, collectively engage in Kirtan (the narration of stories, either vocally or through enactment), welcoming the Palkhi into the town, chanting Bhajans (devotional songs and music), apart from cooking, sleeping, and other rudimentary activities. 500 Warkaris using a maximum area of 15,000 sq. ft. in the form of a systematic, open, semi-open, or partially built structure forms the design brief. The design uses tensile tents to accommodate the large number of people entering the site. These modules can be transported by trucks to be assembled within an hour on-site.PTFE coated glass cloth is used to cover the space frame which has ideal water resistance qualities.

the project proposes to create a circulation weaving in and out of contemporary and ancient buildings. Sunken courtyards in the congregation area reveal existing ruins on site and relocated fragments which become an open space for visitors to explore. The axis of the exhibition space is re-oriented,paying homage to the ancient temple

Three axis are defined the old-temple axis the village axis the lake axis

The axes when overlapped with each other give rise to a new circulation. the form emerges out of these axes and opens up to the lake and the existing temple. The museum is on a lower plane than the ground to match the lake height, this allows the water to flow through the museum, hence the lake unifies the volumes and signifies its importance to the existing temple

A PANDEMIC BUS STAND DESIGN competiton project 2020

SITE : CHAMUNDIHILL,MYSORE

Covid 19 brought the whole to a stop through a pandemic, causing massive death tolls and health hazards throughout the world. public places play an important role in the spread of disease. Hence, proper design of these places helps in breaking the chain of disease spread.The design attempts to address both situations. pandemic and post-pandemic respectively in such a way that subtle changes help the people to maintain social distancing.
