Over the years this premier event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and we expect that tonight’s event will surpass the success of past.

To our wonderful Auction Committee and its leaders, please know that a simple thank you is sincere, but seems inadequate to express my deepest appreciation to the many of you who have given so much of your time and talents to make this year’s “Production” a huge success. You have hosted gift gathering parties, solicited for auction items, underwriting and advertising donations, to say nothing of stuffing all those envelopes, making phone calls and participating at the many, many Friday morning meetings. I know that you have extended yourselves out of love and commitment for the Bishop Lynch Community and the scores of deserving young people who benefit from your generosity. You are the: “Bright Lights of Bishop Lynch” On behalf of our dedicated faculty, thank you for allowing us the wonderful opportunity to live out our vocations as Christian educators at this great Catholic High School.

Purpose Statement Bishop Lynch’s diverse student body hails from 47 countries around the world. It’s college prep curriculum and unique culture attract over 1200 students from across the metroplex, including East Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, North Dallas, Plano Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Flower Mound, Rockwall, Forney, Lakewood, South Dallas, Lake Highlands, and The Park Cities. Programs for students with a variety of learning styles and talents foster the well-being of the total student. The school has earned a reputation for excellence based on it’s programs including advanced placement, dual enrollment, team sports, community service and fine arts.

The purpose of the auction is to significantly grow the Joseph Patrick Lynch Scholarship Fund. The money raised tonight will go directly to scholarships for Bishop Lynch students who have demonstrated their commitment to leadership, scholarship and service in the community.

Thanks to generous donors like yourselves, more than 500 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students over the past 24 years of this auction.

Typically the auction funds scholarships to Bishop Lynch for the upcoming year and renewals for previous years. Additional monies raised by this auction go into the Joseph Patrick Lynch Scholarship fund to help fund scholarships for future students. Our ultimate goal is to grow this fund to 1.5 million over the next 5 years.

On behalf of the 2009 Scholarship Auction committee it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Opening Night of “Bright Lights on Broadway”. We are excited that you have joined us this evening and are so appreciative of your support of Bishop Lynch and our commitment to funding student scholarship. Being one of the premier college-preparatory schools in the Dallas area, Bishop Lynch continues to invest time and resources in developing not only excellent students, but also individuals with strong moral character. Tonight, our goal is to raise awareness and resources to fund the ever growing need for student scholarships. We also gather to recognize and honor the outstanding tradition of BL fine arts. The arts provide texture and color to our everyday lives, and the Bishop Lynch Fine Arts department headed by Kit Sawyer is no exception.

Additionally, I would like to recognize and send my sincerest appreciation to a fabulous auction committee. Not only did they perform their respective roles perfectly through countless hours of hard work, but they were there to support and encourage me every step of the way. For their support, but more importantly, their friendship, I am deeply grateful. A special thanks as well to the entire administrative staff, who answered endless questions and requests with a nod and a smile.

While this year has presented many trials and overwhelming financial challenges, I continue to be amazed at the generosity of our friends in the community and our many BL supporters.

Now more than ever, as we have seen members of our BL family have to withdraw their students due to financial hardships, we must move forward with our efforts to increase our scholarship fund.

We do hope that our journey down “The Great White Way” might provide a brief respite to your concerns of the day, and that you open your generous hearts to help make this evening a resounding success.

24TH ANNUAL BISHOP LYNCH SCHOLARSHIP AUCTION RAFFLE

RAFFLE RULES 1.

VEHICLE: The winning ticket entitles the holder to a 2009 Prius with a value no less than $20,000.00 to be selected by the winner at the Dealership designated by the Auction Committee. All Taxes, Title and Licenses are the responsibility of the winning ticket holder. The winning Ticket has no cash value and must be redeemed for the item specified.

The winning ticket holder must be 18 years old and hold a valid drivers license.

2.

TUITION: The winning ticket entitles the holder to Tuition for the BL School year 2009-2010 and is valued equivalent to the 2009-2010 tuition rates for parishioners. If the family who wins is not eligible for the parishioners tuition rate, the family will be responsible for paying the difference between the parishioner and non - parishioner’s tuition rate.

The scholarship may be applied only to tuition and may not be used to cover registration, matriculation and other fees imposed for the 2009-2010 school year as condition of enrollment or attendance and in addition may not be used to pay any back balance of tuition due.

3.

TICKETS: Each ticket is $25.00 or 5 for $100. The winning ticket has no cash value and must be redeemed for the item. No Refunds on Raffle Tickets.

All profits benefit the Bishop Lynch Scholarship Fund.

The winning ticket for each raffle item will be drawn the night of the Auction on Saturday, April 4, 2009. Winner need not be present to win.

Cash, Check, Master Card, Visa and AMEX are accepted.

Payment in Full is required at the end of the evening.

Bidding: All bidding will be done with your bidder number for Live, Big Board and Silent Auction.

Please read all restrictions on the touch pads, item tags and program before bidding.

To Bid on Live Auction items, raise your Auction Bid number to be recognized by the Auctioneer. The Auctioneer will announce all winning Bid numbers. Once started, the Live Auction will continue without interruption or intermission.

To Bid on Big Board items, please note that all items will be bid on through the AES touchpad bidding system. All bidding will be done by bid number and names are NOT required for bidding. Immediately after closing, the highest bid on each item will be awarded to the successful bidder. Extremely popular items could be auctioned by the Auctioneer.

To bid on a Silent Auction item, please note that all items will be bid on through the AES touchpad bidding system. Each item will have a minimum opening bid as well as an incremental bid increase. Persons desiring to bid must do so by bidding on the touch pads with their bid number. Names are NOT required for bidding.

In case of a dispute, the Auctioneer’s decision will be final.

Buyers should contact donors within 30 days to arrange for dinner, vacations, condominiums, and all other services. Vacation homes/trips are not transferable. Those items are donated subject to availability restrictions, black out dates. Taxes and gratuities may not be included. Please note any restrictions on bid sheets or displays.

The donors have provided values associated with the items and all items are subject to the donor’s restrictions and applicable tax requirements. Please note any restrictions on bid sheets or displays. Gift certificates may not be redeemed for cash, unless otherwise specified and all auction packages and certificates must be redeemed with in one year of the auction.

All Auction Items must be removed tonight. All merchandise is sold “as is” and Bishop Lynch makes no warranties expressed or implied or representations in connection with the sale. No statement contained in this program or made orally at the auction or else where shall be deed to such a warranty or assumption of liability against Bishop Lynch or the donor of the property or service.
