The preschool programs at Noble, Oxford, and Gearity elementary schools have once again been awarded five-star ratings by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Step Up to Quality division.


The District held its 4th annual CH-UH Holiday Card Contest awarding the top three winners with a $50 cash prize courtesy of the Heights Schools Foundation. Roxboro Middle School 8th grader Samaria Smith Williams’s artwork was chosen as the official cover for the 2024 CH-UH Holiday Card.



The Superintendent’s Cadre is a group of high school students from diverse backgrounds and all grade levels who meet with Ms. Kirby once a month to discuss issues impacting the student body and brainstorm ways to improve the high school experience. The 2025 Cadre also visited CH-UH elementary schools to read and talk with students.

Eleven Cleveland Heights High School Marketing Management / DECA students competed in the District 8 DECA winter competitions, preparing them for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.



Heights High students Remy Bourbeau and Gus Szpak were named National Merit Scholarship recipients. Remy was named a recipient of the 2025 National Merit $2,500 Scholarship and Gus a recipient of National Merit Case Western Reserve University Scholarship. William Larkin was named a Commended Student in the 2025 competition. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships.


Nearly 70 Heights High Students were named AP scholars in 2024. The College Board has recognized 69 students in the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026 for their outstanding performance in Advanced Placement classes.

In 2024, all CH-UH schools earned the PBIS Bronze Recognition Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.





Heights High School’s swim teams have had enormous success in the pool this year, from winning records to an undefeated season. The hard work does not end at the pool’ s edge, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams have received accolades from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) for their academic achievement.

Fifth graders known as the Noble Naturalists spent an entire day removing 40 pounds of trash from Wendy’s Island! By removing the litter, the students created a healthier environment for wildlife and reduced the potential pollution of the water that we drink every day.

Before and After School care is available at each CH-UH elementary school through the District partner organization Right At School. The Early Adventures before school care program starts at 7:00 a.m. and The Right Club after school care goes until 6:00 p.m. Flexible scheduling and drop-in days are also available for each program. There are no wait lists to participate in the before and after school care programs. Periodically, CH-UH schools will close or delay the start of a day due to inclement weather or other unforeseen events.
If the student has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, vomits, or has persistent diarrhea, the nurse or principal will contact the parent/guardian to come to school to take the student home.
Students who become ill at school are sent to the nurse’s office.
What happens if my child gets sick at school?
If your student is diagnosed with a communicable disease, keep him/her home until the doctor clears your child to return to school. Report all cases of communicable diseases to the school office. This would include, but is not limited to, any physiciandiagnosed case of COVID-19, meningitis, staph (MRSA, VRSA), pertussis, tuberculosis, mononucleosis and chicken pox.

In support of the District’s efforts to ensure a safe, respectful and responsible school climate we have the Safe School Helpline available to assist you in reporting any wrongdoing that impacts our schools, our students, or our staff.
If your child is in Kindergarten or is a special needs student, the child’s parent/guardian is required to meet their child at the bus stop at the end of the school day. No Kindergarten or special needs child will be dropped off at the bus stop without a parent/guardian meeting the bus. If the child’s parent/ guardian is not at the bus stop, the child will be transported back to his/her home school and the parent/guardian will be contacted for student pick up.

How do I create a user account? Parents should contact their child’s school office and request an activation key code. This one-time code will allow them to log in to the Parent Portal site. Once logged in, the website will provide step-by-step instructions to guide parents through setting up an account. When should I keep my child home from school?

A registered nurse is assigned to each school building. Nurses identify and treat medical issues and injuries, conduct health screenings and support students as they self-monitor and manage their conditions.
A la carte items are available for purchase at the high school and middle schools. Students must pay for these items with cash, check, or the pre-paid balance on their Infinite Campus account. Students are not able to “charge” for a la carte items. Students may also bring their own lunch.
CH-UH is striving to eliminate hunger as a barrier to academic success by providing this service to families, cost-free to the district through the federal Community Eligibility Provision.

All CH-UH students, in every district school building from pre-K through 12, regardless of family income level, receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge each day.

Special Board Meetings or Board Work Sessions may be called by the President, the Chief Financial Officer, or any two members of the Board. They send a written notice with a time, date, place and purpose for the meeting to each member of the Board at least two days prior to the meeting. Work sessions are usually scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. unless there is a conflict with a major holiday or otherwise noticed ahead of time.
