On Friday, November 7th, at 8:00 pm, our Varsity Women’s Volleyball team faced off against Bishop Manogue at Sunrise Mountain High School. After winning 3-1, they showcased how no matter what court they walk onto, they make their dominance known. Though wins and losses are never something that define a team, this team is proof that with good teamwork, hard work, and determination, sports teams can accomplish anything they set their minds to
This tournament had a lot riding on it, after all, it was the State Semi-Finals, standing between them and the opportunity to advance to the State Championship. They won 3 out of each of the 4 sets. The first set was 26-24, the second set was 30-28, the third set was 16-25, and the fourth set was 25-12. When junior Tru Halvorsen was asked about her feelings on this past Volleyball tournament, this was how she responded

As a team, they have not stopped striving, even throughout the post-season. The Women’s Coronado Soccer team played at Valley High School on November 5th at 4:00 pm winning against Centennial 3-0.
Our Coronado Women’s Soccer team starts off the playoffs with an outstanding performance, shutting off the Centennial Bulldogs and scoring three impressive goals. To prepare for this game, they had stuck with what had worked for them when they first played Centennial so they could move on to the next stage of the playoffs. That was having the same mindset going into the game and same formation.
At halftime, the score was 2-0. “The formation we have played was a 5-3-2,” junior Emily Mckinney said. “ We have been playing this formation for the whole season, and we have gotten very used to it. It has been easier for us to be able to pass around players, and make the other team get tired, and then score on them when we have the chance to.”

Our Coronado Women’s Soccer team comes off beating Arbor View again after playing them earlier in the season. Arbor View could not compete with our girls, but they have been one of their tougher opponents this season. Getting up, our Cougars had to make it a big game, playing a different formation not a lot of high school teams have seen before. By keeping Arbor View on their toes during the game, they foundoutwhatwouldbeabletowork.
“Our formation was a 5-3-2,” junior Emily Mckinney said “Not many schools are used to thisformation, anditmakesitharderforthemto get past our backline. It helps us confuse the opponent because we then send the outside backs up to help the forwards, and that allows our outside backs to be open most of the time, and we can find them, and that is where a lot fo ourgoalscomefrom.”

During halftime, the score was 2-0 for our women ' s soccer team Being up by this score is very controversial for our soccer team because although they are up by a lot, Arbor View can come back very fast But they only let in one goal during the second half but responded by scoring another goal, so they were still up by 2 goalsfortherestofthegame
“Even though we scored 3 goals that game, our biggest weakness was scoring,” Mckinney said “We had trouble getting it on frame, or if we did it would end up going straight to the goalies hands They have a good goalie too, so it was hardforustoplaceitjustrightforhernottoget it because she has a good dive, which is hard when most of our shots are supposed to be low andonthefloor”
Before they get ready to play their next game, theyhavetoprepareforwhattheyneedtowork on before coming out on the field again They will have to figure out how to come out faster and put higher pressure on their next opponent They have been a powerful team this year, and many teams have to watch out for our CoronadoWomen’sSoccerteam
