loves, check. Needles, check. Tubing, check. Let the blood drive begin. On October 20th of 2021, students and staff had the opportunity to participate in the blood drive. This chance is only available to people who are seventeen years of age and older, so freshman and sophomores were not able to donate their blood. Many juniors and seniors chose to donate blood. However, a lot of them were really scared to. Senior Zoe Watts stated that, “I was terrified going in because blood freaks me out.” In addition, junior Kayla Fuller said that, “I am scared of needles and blood so I was freaking out all day before the blood drive.” These students overcame their fears to help people in need. There was one especially alarming experience at the blood drive. For junior Alyson Westfall, this was her first time donating blood and she was a little nervous. Afterwards, she stated, “I passed out after giving blood and when I got up I felt lightheaded.” She ended up breaking her tailbone but stated that she would do it again to be able to save lives. Not only did people have the chance to donate their blood, they also got to donate their plasma. Junior Evan Clark is one example. “I have a rare blood type and I wanted to help people out. It was scary and I am not a fan of needles, but it made me feel hot and cold when they were doing it,” Clark said.

RADIO SHOW FUN Mark Spiroff, Consulting Principal of Conifer Radio, asks questions regarding the upcoming radio show at the high school. He is a very funny guy and interviewed student leaders about what they thought about the radio show. “I was getting asked questions about what I thought about the local radio station and starting a live broadcast,” senior Zoe Watts said. photo by m.dawson ROLE PLAY DECA, is a student-led organization that prepares students in marketing.
