“My friend Ariya and I happened to have matching outfits and so we just planned it out together to wear the same thing!”

“I wore my tie dye and got all my friends to wear their tie dye so we’re all really spiriting it up!”

The week leading up to the annual Homecoming football game and dance, the student body was all abuzz, especially the members of student government who were tasked with wrangling the spirit week festivities. Miles Garrison, junior, took the wheel alongside other members of the spirit week committee to organize not only the spirit day themes, but also the activities throughout the week.
“We had to figure out the daily activity so we gave Wednesday to DECA and then just kind of brainstormed about activities we could do at lunch,” Garrison said.
On top of the planning element, the
committee was tasked with instantaneous problem solving.
“One of our activities didn’t really work. We were trying to do doughnut fishing but the lines didn’t work so we ended up needing to change it to doughnut trivia on the spot,” Garrison said.
Despite the last minute alteration in plans, the spirit week committee was able to make a successful activity and got more student participation in spirit week as a whole than anticipated or hoped.
“We had really good participation overall,” Garrison said.
“For western day, my friend Ainsley and I dressed up as cowgirls together and she wore a really cute handmade skirt!”
