The week leading up to the annual Homecoming football game and dance, the student body was all abuzz, especially the members of student government who were tasked with wrangling the spirit week festivities. Miles Garrison, junior, took the wheel alongside other members of the spirit week committee to organize not only the spirit day themes, but also the activities throughout the week. “We had to figure out the daily activity so we gave Wednesday to DECA and then just kind of brainstormed about activities we could do at lunch,” Garrison said. committee was tasked with instantaneous problem solving. “One of our activities didn’t really work. We were trying to do doughnut fishing but the lines didn’t work so we ended up needing to change it to doughnut trivia on the spot,” Garrison said. Despite the last minute alteration in plans, the spirit week committee was able to make a successful activity and got more student participation in spirit week as a whole than anticipated or hoped. “We had really good participation overall,” Garrison said.

Senior Homecoming royalty takes the throne
TWINNING IS WINNING Junior Homecoming royalty Isabella Hess and Tristan Swanson wear matching Lobo football jerseys for Monday of spirit week, jersey day. Hess hoped to further her royalty campaign by participating in spirit days. “I thought it would be a really fun thing to participate in the school spirit week together because we were running for royalty,” Hess said. photo by j. pinsonneault H-GAME A-GAME Senior varsity safety and defensive back player Evan Clark carries the Conifer banner with his team to open the Homecoming football game. Clark prioritized the game play aspect at big games so his head was in the game. “It’s cool to say that we won the Homecoming game but during the moment I’m just focused on myself and what I need to do,” Clark said. photo by c. potter
HUNGRY HUNGRY HAMPER As a participant in the Hungry, Hungry Hippos activity during the pep rally, Kennedi Pell, sophomore, uses a mere laundry basket to retrieve the most foam balls. Behind the scenes, Benjamin Miller, sophomore, steered Pell by the ankles and propelled her forward. ”Basically, Ben grabbed my legs while I tried to get the most I could,” Pell said. photo by c. potter
Senior band members Carley Getz and Adam Wright beam, adorned with royal accessories atop their band uniforms after the announcement of their victory. Since being dubbed the “band parents” by their friends, Getz and Wright were persuaded to run for Homecoming royalty. “When they announced that we won, all I could think about was that I could hear the entire band lose their minds,” Getz said. photo by c. potter
