2019 CHRISTUS Spohn Grand Classic

Raising Money for Inpatient Rehabilitation

Thanks to all of the sponsors, golfers, volunteers and Associates for supporting the 2019 Richard King III Grand Classic Golf Tournament at the Corpus Christi Country Club on Monday, October 21, 2019. After registering and enjoying lunch, the 135 golfers hit the course on a perfect, sunny day as members of the CHRISTUS Spohn Foundation Board of Directors, CHRISTUS Spohn Associates and Volunteers monitored holes and ensured the golfers enjoyed their time with us.

During the awards reception, Dr. Susan Tower, Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Department, spoke to the crowd to thank them for their support and to talk about our program, which specializes in treating amputations, brain injuries, Fall 2019

joint replacements, orthopedic injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and trauma injuries. After her presentation, Doug DeSive, Corpus Christi Country Club Golf Pro, announced the golf winners and Leslie McClanahan, Foundation Board Chair, thanked the players and all who helped make this year’s tournament a great event.

Beecroft Construction played a major part in the success of our Grand Classic by returning as the Presenting Sponsor and bringing eight golfers to join in on the fun. We greatly appreciate their generosity and continuous support of the CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. Rick Rogers (pictured above with his brothers Ham and Pat), chaired the Foundation’s Golf Committee. Rick is a member of the CHRISTUS Spohn Foundation Board and dedicates hours each year to the golf tournament in memory of their late father, Dr. F. F. Rogers, who was a longtime surgeon at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital – Shoreline. “Spohn has been important to our family. Helping to sponsor the Grand Classic is something that we can do as a family and serves as a thank you to CHRISTUS Spohn for its quality care and service to the entire community. We sponsor the golf balls they give out each year at the tournament and it’s just one small way of honoring our dad and showing our gratitude to the hospital.” The golfers had fun and enjoyed great food all while raising funds for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Department at CHRISTUS Spohn - Shoreline. Inpatient Rehabilitation patients will benefit from

the efforts of our sponsors and golfers for years to come. On their behalf, and ours, we give our heartiest thanks to everyone involved. We look forward to seeing you at the Corpus Christi Country Club on October 19, 2020! Dr. Osbert Blow, President and Chief Medical Officer of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System, presents at the Fall 2019 CHRISTUS Spohn Corpus Christi Ambassadors Meeting in Jordan Anderson’s home.

CHRISTUS Spohn Corpus Christi Ambassadors’ Fall Meeting The CHRISTUS Spohn Ambassadors met at Foundation Board Member Jordan Anderson’s home for their fall meeting that included a wonderful lunch and an opportunity to learn more about Dr. Osbert Blow, President and Chief Medical Officer of CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. The group was fascinated with Dr. Blow’s presentation and his story describing his journey as the son of an immigrant mother living in New York City who empowered him to become the physician he is today. His passion for medicine and commitment to healing those in need dominated his life story. The Ambassadors are a passionate group of community-minded women who gather three times a year to learn more about CHRISTUS Spohn and the
